Max Brosmer Gets Honest Words After Vikings Lose to Seahawks

It was a rough game for Minnesota Vikings‘ Max Brosmer as the team dropped its fourth straight game with a 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on November 30 at Lumen Field.

With J.J. McCarthy sidelined by a concussion, the Vikings turned to Brosmer, but the offense continued to struggle with their backup signal-caller.

The loss marked the fifth time in the last six outings that the team failed to reach 20 points, and the second game in a row without getting to 10. Brosmer’s first NFL start was rough. He completed 19 of 30 passes for 126 yards and threw four interceptions.

Moreover, the blocking in front of him offered little relief, as Seattle’s defense brought him down for four sacks. After the loss, Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell spoke to the media about the 24-year-old’s performance.

“This is great experience for him,” O’Connell said postgame about Brosmer’s start. “It won’t get harder than going to Seattle for your first start against that defense. He’s such a competitor and obviously wants to come out here and lead this team to a win.

“I told him that’s a great experience and an unbelievable learning opportunity—knowing what it felt like, seeing it firsthand, and maybe, as he gains more experience—which Max is going to have plenty of in this league—the game will slow down a little, even though we believe he is already a fast processor.

Max Brosmer Feels Support from Vikings Locker Room

Amid a challenging first NFL start, the Vikings aren’t letting Brosmer take full responsibility for the loss. In his postgame remarks, the Minnesota signal-caller shared what the team is doing to ensure that he doesn’t feel that the loss is solely on him.

“I just want to credit the entire locker room here, Brosmer told reporters postgame. “I think our locker room is very, very special. Staying together after a tough loss, tough plays, and tough drives is really hard in the NFL. It’s hard in college, too, but in the NFL, it’s even harder. That’s one of our team’s superpowers. I felt their love. I felt their support.

“They don’t have to do that. They could just let me be and move on to the next drive or the next game. But our team doesn’t do that. You feel that support here. Whether you play well or have a tough day, you’re going to get the same support and love from the rest of the team.”

Vikings Have a Liability at QB

Following Minnesota’s defeat against Seattle, CBS Sports NFL analyst Bryant McFadden also weighed in on the Vikings’ continued offensive struggles in the last few weeks.

McFadden also noted that the first time in the Kevin O’Connell era, the Vikings have a liability at the most important position in football.

“When you look at what Kevin O’Connell has been able to do regardless of who’s been at the quarterback position, worst case scenario, we’ve seen serviceable play, McFadden said on the November 30 edition of “CBS Sports HQ.

“With J.J. McCarthy, clearly the expectations were not there when he has been in the lineup. And now, when you talk about having Max Brosmer in this situation, a rookie free agent making his first start on the road in Seattle, against this defensive unit.

“We knew it was going to be ugly, but we didn’t think it would get this ugly. Sacked four times, four interceptions. They scored a defensive touchdown. I mean, this is who the Seattle Seahawks is if you don’t have your game right offensively. They can embarrass you. They’re the wrong bully to attack when you’re not a bully.”
