Nick Folk is one of the oldest players in the National Football League in 2025 at the ripe age of 41.
After Folk hero delivered a last-second 27-24 victory for the New York Jets over the Atlanta Falcons, head coach Aaron Glenn sent a clear message about his future.
“Listen, he has been around here a long time. We just knew once we got him, man, the kicking part of our team is going to be on point. We are going to be stabilized,” Coach Glenn explained on Sunday, November 30. “Man, I’m just glad that we got him. Listen, he still has years left to be able to play this game, but he is doing a hell of a job for us.”
Folk has been the most accurate kicker in the NFL over the last three years. He has gone an incredible 72-of-75. That 96% field goal conversion rate is the best in the league over that span.
Like a Fine Wine, Folk Is Getting Better With Age
After the first week of training camp, the Jets signed veteran placekicker Nick Folk to a one-year deal.
Folk has been marvelous for the green and white. He has converted 22-of-23 field goal attempts this season. The only miss he has had this year came in Week 13 versus the Falcons.
The Jets’ decision to sign Folk to the roster was a last-second choice for the Jets, who had originally hoped to go with youth over experience. It paid off in a major way.
Gang Green initially rolled into camp with an undrafted free agent and a UFL/XFL placekicker. After a few days of training camp, the Jets quickly pivoted to Folk, and the rest is history.
Speaking of Paying Off…
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini via Robert Raiola, Folk’s game-winning field goal versus Atlanta was worth “$125,000.”
He has incentive escalators built into his contract that he can achieve and earn more money. Here are the other escalators built into his contract: “24: $250,000, 27: $375,000, and 30: $500,000.”
Folk signed a one-year $2.87 million contract to join the Jets. He is scheduled to be a free agent in 2026.
Stamp of Approval From Jets Teammates
Cornerback and special teamer Qwan’tez Stiggers said, “Nick’s old, but Nick’s good” in the locker room after the game.
Jets Players Have Brutal Honesty About Folk Hero
Running back Breece Hall bluntly revealed his thought process when Folk was setting up to make a field goal. “Hopefully, he saves our [expletive],”
Magical Moment in the Locker Room
After the Jets’ third win of the season, head coach Aaron Glenn had one game ball to hand out in the locker room.
“I got one game ball, and I played with this mother [expletive]. Nick, where are you at,” Coach Glenn asked.
Coach Glenn was referring to Folk’s first year in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys in 2007. Glenn was briefly teammates with Folk on that Cowboys team.
