Myles Garrett Sends Clear Message to 49ers’ Brock Purdy

The San Francisco 49ers extended their winning streak to three with a clear 26–8 victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 13 on November 30 at Huntington Bank Field.

Coming off a rough outing in Week 12 that included three interceptions against the Carolina Panthers, Brock Purdy responded with a cleaner performance. He avoided turnovers, completing 16 of 29 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown while relying heavily on George Kittle and Jauan Jennings through the air.

Christian McCaffrey added steady support on the ground, scoring a rushing touchdown while carrying the ball 20 times for 53 yards. He also contributed four catches for 21 receiving yards.

While Purdy wasn’t dazzling, he didn’t turn the ball over and made timely passes in challenging weather conditions in Cleveland, leading to a win. After the victory, Browns star Myles Garrett didn’t hold back his thoughts on Purdy.

“I feel like there were a lot of ops,” Garrett said postgame (h/t David Lombardi of The SF Standard). “Well, there seemed like a lot of ops with how close it was, but he likes getting out on time or he sees me and credit to him, he also avoided the rush pretty well, too. So, him getting the ball out on time, them having a solid unit as well, chipping, those things — they were doing what they do best.”

49ers QB Brock Purdy Talks After Beating Browns

Purdy spoke with CBS Sports and credited the entire team for securing the road win as they look to keep themselves in the race for the NFC West division.

“Just a complete team effort across the board—defense, special teams, [and] offense—everyone doing their job and trying to play smart football given the conditions we were in,” Purdy said postgame to CBS Sports’ Melanie Collins. “On a road environment like this, you have to be on top of your stuff. So credit to our coaches for getting us right and executing.”

This matchup with the Browns is Purdy’s third game back from his turf toe injury, and he talked about how he’s holding up, even with the chilly weather he faced as the Niners quarterback.

“It feels great,” Purdy added. “When I’m out here, I’m not thinking about it. I’m focused on my assignments and locking in to throw guys open and everything. It’s good. But more than anything, I’ve got the guys on this team who have my back, and I just want to go to war for them and with them. So glad we did that today.”

49ers Enter the Final Stretch

San Francisco enters their bye week with four games remaining, including three against teams battling for playoff spots: the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, and Indianapolis Colts.

After the break, the Niners have a chance to keep their winning streak alive when they face the struggling Tennessee Titans on December 14 as the favorites. The bye comes at a perfect time, giving Purdy a chance to rest following his return from injury and allowing the team to fine-tune aspects of their game as he settles back on the field.
