Zachary Ty Bryan, best known for “Home Improvement,” was being held in an Oregon jail Monday after his sixth arrest in five years, this time for allegedly violating his parole.
The 44-year-old sitcom alum’s fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, was also taken in, People first reported Sunday. Cartwright, 32, was charged with one count of driving under the influence of intoxicants, three counts of reckless endangering and one count of attempted first-degree assault, according to jail records reviewed by the Daily News.
They were arrested Saturday in Eugene, Ore., and held without bail at Lane County Jail, with Bryan scheduled for court Wednesday, according to USA Today. Cartwright was scheduled for arraignment Monday afternoon, KEZI-TV reported.
Bryan is less than a year shy of finishing 36 months of parole stemming from his 2023 guilty plea for fourth-degree felony domestic assault. His sentence, which included seven days of jail time, runs through his parole-end date of October 2026.
The actor’s arrest record dates back to an October 2020 domestic assault case that saw him charged with strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and interfering with making a report. He pleaded guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault, both misdemeanors, the following year. After the 2023 charge, Bryan was arrested twice in 2024 for driving under the influence. His most recent arrest before Saturday was in January of this year, when he was charged with a slew of domestic offenses.
Bryan played Brad Taylor, eldest son of Tim and Jill Taylor (Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson), for all eight seasons of “Home Improvement” from 1991 through 1999. He and Cartwright share three children.
