The Boston Bruins will continue to be without superstar David Pastrnak for an upcoming road trip. The dynamic forward last featured for his team in a game against the New York Islanders on November 26. Two days later, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm informed the media that Pastrnak suffered an undisclosed injury and was considered “day-to-day.”
The star forward has since missed Boston’s last two games, a win and a loss, but was expected to return to the ice soon. Nevertheless, Pastrnak did not take part in the team’s practice on December 1. As a result, Sturm revealed that the winger will now not travel to Detroit to face the Red Wings on December 2.
“It’s still day-to-day,” Sturm told reporters when asked for an update on Pastrnak. “We were hoping he could skate by now, but he didn’t. We’ll see how he is in the next few days.”
Along with Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy also remains out of action for the Bruins. The star defender previously suffered a gruesome facial injury on November 15. Although it remains to be seen when McAvoy will officially return, he was seen skating on the ice without his teammates on November 29.
Video Shows David Pastrnak Appeared to Suffer Lower-Body Injury

GettyDavid Pastrnak has been one of the best NHL players over the last three seasons.
While NHL coaches tend to be tight-lipped regarding injury news specifics, Boston hockey expert Ty Anderson shared an interesting social media post about Pastrnak’s issue. In the video upload, Anderson shows a clip from the Islanders game that appears to pinpoint exactly when the injury occurred.
Pastrnak seemingly suffers the setback while attempting to quickly skate out of his defensive zone late in the game. The star continued on for a few more seconds before making his way to the Boston bench. New York had an empty net at the time of the apparent injury.
Pastrnak’s continued absence will be disappointing for the team and its fans. The winger currently leads the Bruins in total points and assists, while also providing two game-winning goals.
Along with being the undisputed biggest star on the team, Pastrnak has been incredibly reliable for Boston. In fact, this is the first time that the forward has missed a game since the 2021-22 season. He has grabbed over 100 points in each of his last three campaigns.
Another Bruins Forward Set to Return After Recovering from Injury
With Pastrnak out, the Bruins have been linked with a move for Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood. The fellow forward is an impending free agent and is expected to be traded by the Canucks at some point this season. Sherwood is looking for a substantial raise on his current $1.5 million AAV deal.
Outside of Pastrnak, Bruins fans did receive some positive news regarding another injured player. Viktor Arvidsson was a full participant in the team’s practice on December 1. The forward has not featured for the Bruins since suffering a lower-body injury on November 15. After recovering from the issue, Arvidsson should return to the ice against the Red Wings.
Despite missing seven games, Arvidsson is still third on the team in shot attempts with 101. The forward has 10 total points in 20 games so far this season with Boston. He was previously acquired by the team in July from the Edmonton Oilers for a 2027 fifth-round pick.
