Horse survives graze with danger in northern Weld County

A whole herd of first responders worked together over the weekend to rescue a horse trapped in a ditch between Ault and Pierce.

After both the Ault-Pierce and Eaton Fire Departments were unable to lift the horse out of the ditch with tractor straps, an animal control officer contacted a veterinarian to sedate the horse, according to a Weld County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Once the horse was sedated, Windsor Severance Fire brought large animal rescue gear and lifted the horse out using webbing and a tractor, the release states.

The horse was not injured and was reunited with its owner.
