<p id=”par-2_67″>Lisa Vanderpump is back on Bravo in a refreshed version of iconic reality series <em>Vanderpump Rules. </em>Season 12 follows an entirely new group of SURvers as they navigate personal and professional drama against the backdrop of Vanderpump’s iconic restaurant. But as <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/rhobh-lisa-vanderpump-says-she-might-return-if-the-show-got-rid-of-these-5-women.html/”>the <em>RHOBH </em>alum</a> explains in the December 2 season premiere, the hospitality business is brutally competitive, and this is no time to rest on your laurels. </p>

<p id=”par-3_41″>In the first episode of <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/bravo-premiere-date-vanderpump-rules-season-12-new-cast.html/”>the new <em>Vanderpump Rules</em></a><em>, </em>Vanderpump faces a tricky situation with her staff, some of whom she feels aren’t taking their jobs seriously. That’s a problem, because SUR’s success is dependent on the people who work there. </p>
<p id=”par-4_40″>“SUR has been in business for 20 years,” Vanderpump explains. “One of the reasons we’ve lasted as long as we have is the high expectations for the food and the ambiance. But without a vibrant staff, it wouldn’t be SUR.” </p>
<p id=”par-5_14″>Drawing diners into the restaurant has been particularly challenging in recent years, Vanderpump adds. </p>
<p id=”par-6_29″>“West Hollywood was the center of the nightlife in Los Angeles. But since COVID, it never seemed to recover,” she explains. “<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/vanderpump-rules-why-did-lisa-vanderpump-name-her-restaurant-sur.html/”>SUR has survived</a>, but it hasn’t been thriving.” </p>
<p id=”par-7_35″>“I already made the decision to say goodbye to one baby. I’m not going to do it again,” she continues, referring to her decision to shutter Pump Restaurant in 2023 after 10 years in business. </p>

<p id=”par-8_52″>With her restaurant business under pressure, it’s more important than ever for Vanderpump to run a tight ship. So, when her business partner Nathalie Pouille-Zapata reveals that she spotted Marcus Johnson sneaking drinks on the job – and teaching new hire Jason Cohen how to do the same – she’s not happy.</p>
<p id=”par-9_28″>“Listen, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this bullsh*t, OK,” Vanderpump says. “I mean, do we suspend four of them? How’s that going to hurt the business?” </p>
<p id=”par-10_26″>Vanderpump isn’t naive that her workers sometimes let loose while on the clock. But she says the stakes have gotten higher as SUR’s profile has grown. </p>
<p id=”par-11_45″>“I know that people will sneak a drink here and there. I mean, this ain’t my first rodeo, that’s for sure,” she tells a producer. “But this is 2025. This isn’t 2013. SUR has HR. We have to crack down on this kind of stuff.” </p>
<p id=”par-12_18″>Nathalie is visibly upset by the staff’s behavior. Vanderpump tries to assure her that everything will be OK. </p>
<p id=”par-13_23″>“I know it’s been really hard few months for you,” she says. “We have survived over the years. We’re going to survive now.”</p>
<p id=”par-14_16″>Vanderpump decides to sit down with her staff and give them a dose of tough love. </p>
<p id=”par-15_63″>“What I see when I come in today really pisses me off,” she tells the group. “Last night, what transpired last night is Marcus standing at the back of house swooping cups of sangria. Venus standing here with Jason, Marcus taking shots. Before you even start working,” she continues, directing her attention to Marcus. “What kind of service are you going to give?” </p>
<p id=”par-16_29″>“Restaurant costs are up,” Vanderpump adds. “Many restaurants closed down – four in the last week have closed down. Nobody’s surviving this sh*t. This is survival of the fittest.”</p>
<p id=”par-17_13″>To drive her point home, Vanderpump decides to make an example of Marcus. </p>
<p id=”par-18_34″>“Right now, I want you to get your sh*t, go home, and have a really good think about it. Because let me tell you, I don’t want to speak to you anymore,” she says.</p>
<p id=”par-19_14″>Marcus is surprised, but he doesn’t seem all that upset about his public shaming. </p>
<p id=”par-20_26″>“I didn’t expect that, I’m not gonna lie,” he tells a producer. “I mean, we all do that. But I got caught. What can I say?” </p>
