Prince William and Kate’s Home Nightmare Includes ‘Angry’ Neighbors, an Uncle Andrew Headache and a Christmas Tree Fiasco

It was announced several months back that Prince William, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), and their three children were moving into their “forever home” in Windsor.

The family’s new house, Forest Lodge, has eight bedrooms and is about 10 minutes closer than Adelaide Cottage was to the Lambrook School, where Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis attend.

Forest Lodge will be the family’s home base even when Prince William becomes king, as he’s made it clear that he has no intentions of living at either Buckingham Palace or Kensington Palace when he’s the monarch.

But the Waleses’ new home has become a headache for people who live in the neighborhood. Here’s more on why many of their neighbors are ticked off, what the prince and princess hope will only be a temporary Uncle Andrew problem, and a Christmas traffic fiasco driving other Windsor residents mad.

Before it was officially announced that the royals were moving in, two families who live a stone’s throw away from the residence were told they had to move.

According to the <a href=”https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-15010039/Kate-Williams-property-portfolio-Couple-option-THREE-luxurious-houses-live-finding-eight-bedroom-forever-home-Windsor.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Daily Mail, the families who lived in cottages next to the mansion were informed that they had to vacate the properties. The cottages, which were converted from Forest Lodge’s stables, are rented out by the Crown Estate. No eviction notices were issued in advance, and the tenants were said to be surprised when they were they were told to leave.

As for the residents who still do live nearby, they’re facing a nuisance of their own since Will and Kate decided to move their family in. That’s because 150 acres and a two-mile perimeter around the property is now closed to the public. Signs will warn people not to enter, and officials will arrest those who trespass.

Several neighbors voiced their complaints, including one local who fumed: “Many of us have been walking our dogs here for 20 years, so to be told we can’t anymore is a kick in the teeth. We pay annually towards the upkeep of a park, but we are no longer going to be allowed to use part of it. They’ve only given us a few days’ notice to say this section of forest is closing forever. Now I’ll need to get in my car to drive further afield to take my dog for a walk.”

A disgraced royal lives nearby, and others in the area have to drive further for Christmas trees

Another issue is that the Prince and Princess of Wales are a little ticked off that William’s Uncle Andrew is living in the area, as he still resides at Royal Lodge. On Oct. 30, Buckingham Palace announced that he would vacate, but the timetable on that is not clear, only that it will be sometime in 2026.

For William and Kate, Andrew’s move-out date can’t come soon enough. According to the Substack “<a href=”https://tinabrown.substack.com/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Fresh Hell,” royal biographer Tina Brown claimed that the Waleses “can’t abide” Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and are really hoping he doesn’t stop by because they don’t want him anywhere near their new “forever home.”

Finally, an issue causing headaches for people traveling to the area to get their Christmas tree is that it now takes them longer to do that. According to <a href=”https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/royals/prince-william-kates-new-home-36332337″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Mirror, because local access roads leading to Will and Kate’s home have been blocked off, folks “headed to the yearly Christmas Tree Shop at Windsor Great Park now face being sent around a new circular route — making them travel more than an extra mile in total.”
