Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy made his feelings clear on quarterback Shedeur Sanders following their sideline spat during a loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Jeudy and Sanders were caught on camera having a heated conversation on the sideline while reviewing a play. An animated Jeudy appeared to yell, “That’s wrong,” multiple times at Sanders during the argument, which was eventually separated by center Ethan Pocic.
Jeudy played down the incident on Wednesday during his media availability.
“We spoke about it. We good,” Jeudy said with his arms crossed. “It was about a play. This is an emotional sport. Things like that happen in football.”
Is there anything he’d do differently?
“I probably would have talked off-camera. That part I would have done differently. Of course, I’m going to speak my mind and say what I see out there. It’s football. Me and Shedeur are good. Stuff like that happens,” Jeudy said before talking aim at the media. “Y’all are going to make it different from what it is, because you’re the media. That’s what you all feed off — negativity. We move on from it. I live in real life. What happens in this locker room, this real. Not what’s going on with social media.”
Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Declines to Address Jeudy Incident
Sanders had less to say about the incident with Jeudy, avoiding the topic.
“We resolved that. We’re not going to speak on that,” Sanders said.
Sanders alluded to a lack of trust with Jeudy in the passing game following the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He completed 16-of-25 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown.
“You want to be able to get (Jeudy) the ball, but you’ve got to understand it’s going to take time. I’m more of a trust person and that’s just what it boils down to,” Sanders said. “So we have to spend time on task, with all those guys, and be able to trust and be able to see things at the same lens.”
Jeudy has just 35 catches for 421 yards and one touchdown this season. He also leads the NFL with nine drops.
Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Not Making Excuses for Loss
Sanders is heading into his third start. He’s gone 1-1 in his first two games, passing for 405 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions over that span. He’s completing 50.8% of his passes and has posted a quarterback rating of 69.4.
Sanders acknowledged he has work to do and isn’t using a lack of reps or his rookie status as an excuse.
“I think I’m more determined and focused on knowing I gotta do what it takes to get the results, for the team, for us that we need to be successful,” Sanders said. “So, I think there’s certain things and areas that I need to improve in, quickly. Just because I’m a rookie, that’s not really an excuse out there.”
Sanders and the Browns enter their Week 14 matchup against No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans at 3-9. Cleveland is a 4.5-point home favorite for the matchup.
