Taylor Swift Gets Troubling News Ahead of Chiefs’ Crucial Texans Game

Few of any NFL experts or Kansas City Chiefs fans thought the season would go this way, but on Sunday Night Football this week, the defending AFC champions and winners of three Super Bowls in the last six will find themselves fighting for their playoff lives — and Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Co. will have to overcome the NFL’s toughest defense to do it.

The 6-6 Chiefs host the 7-5 Houston Texans on Sunday night, but playing at home should at least give Kansas City some extra hope of keeping their postseason aspirations alive. They have won five of six games at home this season, while losing five of six on the road.

A defeat on Sunday, according to a statistical formula created by The Athletic, would mean the Chiefs then have an 88 percent chance of missing the postseason altogether for the first time since 2014 — and the first in Mahomes’ career. In fact, since he took over as full-time starting quarterback in 2018, Mahomes has never had a season when he failed to play at least in the AFC Championship Game.

Chiefs’ No. 1 Fan Gets Bad News

Losing to Houston — whose No. 1-ranked defense has allowed fewer yards (3,188) and points (198) than any other NFL team, and is second only to the Denver Broncos (11) in fewest opponent touchdowns (12) — would be the worst possible news for the Chiefs.

But even before the game, the Chiefs’ No. 1 fan — or at least most famous fan — global pop music megastar Taylor Swift, received some tough news of her own. Swift, who is engaged to Kelce, generally attends all Chiefs home games to cheer on her future husband. In all likelihood, she will be on hand Sunday night as well — though she will be nursing her wounds from learning that she is no longer No. 1 in the eyes of pop music fans.

At least, that was the verdict according to fans who listen to music via the dominant streaming platform Spotify. The Stockholm-based streaming company unveiled their annual “Wrapped” feature on Wednesday, in which the platform reveals numerous results of how its users behaved in the previous year, including, of course, which music they streamed most often.

Rapper Dethrones Swift

Swift had ruled the Spotify empire for the previous two years as the world’s most frequently streamed music artist. But according to the 2025 Spotify Wrapped, as reported by NBC News, the title this year goes to …

Bad Bunny.

The return to the top spot, with a reported 19.8 billion streams, marks a comeback of sorts for the 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper whose given name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio. Bad Bunny held the top spot from 2020 to 2022 until Swift knocked him off in 2023 and held on to the title last year as well.

Swift Reportedly Turned Down Super Bowl Show

The two artists seem linked, whether they want to be or not, in the music world. Earlier this year Swift reportedly turned down the opportunity to perform the halftime show at Super Bowl LX in February, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

She later said that her decision was based on the fact that she would be too preoccupied worrying about her fiancé, Kelce, as he plays in the game — as he has for five of the last six years. But especially if they lose to the Texans on Sunday, the Chiefs appear to have only a remote chance of playing in the Super Bowl again this season.

Instead of Swift, the NFL offered the Super Bowl halftime show to, of course, Bad Bunny. The Spanish-language superstar accepted, despite his earlier pledge not to perform in the mainland United States due to fears that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents would patrol his concerts, arresting fans.
