Cowboys DT Kenny Clark Sends Strong Message to Jared Goff Before Lions Game

The 2025 NFL season has been a rollercoaster ride for the Dallas Cowboys, with America’s Team struggling defensively throughout the year while boasting one of the most high-powered offenses, led by star quarterback Dak Prescott and veteran newcomer George Pickens.

Although the season has been shaky for this Cowboys squad, the team still has a chance to make a push for a playoff spot in the NFC if it can finish the regular season on a strong note. Dallas is already coming on strong, winning three straight games, but it will have a tough challenge in Week 14 against Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions, who also need to finish strong in the final stretch of the 2025 campaign.

One of the toughest challenges the Cowboys’ defense will have heading into this matchup with the Lions will be containing Goff, who is having another stellar season under center in Detroit.

Cowboys veteran newcomer Kenny Clark will be tasked with trying to keep Goff contained on Thursday night at Ford Field in Detroit. Clark discussed what Dallas needs to do to achieve some success against Goff this week.

“Any time you have a pocket quarterback, you get pressure up the middle, that’s the toughest pressure for those quarterbacks,” Clark said of facing Goff in Week 14 during media availability. “If you get pressure on the edge, they can step up and stuff, so getting in their face and disrupting their throws and disrupting their timing, that’s huge.”

Clark was famously part of the blockbuster Micah Parsons trade that took place right before the 2025 NFL season began. The three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle has had a solid season with the Cowboys thus far, recording 3.0 sacks and 13 solo tackles across his first 12 games with the storied franchise.

He’ll play a vital role in Thursday’s game and will have the opportunity to be a game-changer if he can put constant pressure on Goff.

Cowboys Suffer Big Blow on Defense Ahead of Lions Clash

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Cowboys will be without one-time All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs as well as offensive tackle Tyler Guyton against the Lions. However, Pickens will be good to go for this matchup on Thursday Night Football.

All signs pointed to Diggs being available for this game on Thursday night, even longtime team owner and general manager Jerry Jones was adamant about the two-time Pro Bowl corner playing against the Lions.

This will be the seventh consecutive game that Diggs will miss, which has been a costly blow for a defense that has been the Cowboys’ Achilles heel this season.

Fortunately, Pickens will be good to go despite dealing with multiple injuries. He is having a career year in his first season in Dallas, catching 73 passes (tied for 7th in the NFL) for 1,142 receiving yards (2nd in the NFL) and eight touchdowns (tied for 3rd in the NFL).

Even though the defense won’t get the anticipated boost in the secondary with Diggs ruled out, the offense should be firing on all cylinders, giving the Cowboys a chance to pull off the upset on the road in Detroit.
