Police Give Update on Tara Reid’s Case After Terrifying Incident & Hospitalization

On Sunday, November 23, Tara Reid was rushed to the hospital while spending time in Chicago. Fans immediately feared the worst upon hearing that she needed medical attention, but more information has since emerged about what happened to the actress. 

Tara Reid’s Scary Incident 

At the time of the incident, video footage obtained by TMZ showed Reid unable to stand in the hotel lobby ​​, and paramedics later attended to her before she was taken to the hospital on a stretcher. ​​Reid and her team claimed she was drugged and that her drink had been tampered with, TMZ reports.

Reid informed the publication that she had ordered only one drink. Before she was able to finish drinking it, she left the bar to smoke a cigarette outside. When she returned, the drink had been covered with a napkin, which she had not put there. She drank the drink regardless. What happened next was a terrifying ordeal that she remembers little of because she was unconscious. Some fans started to comment on how the actress has previously struggled with substance abuse problems. 

However, in an interview with TMZ, Reid insisted that she had been “drugged.”  She recalled what happened in the interview, saying, “My drink was covered with a napkin, and I thought that was weird. I didn’t put that over my drink.” 

She continued, “Without even finishing my drink, I passed out,” Reid shared. “Before I knew it, I was in the hospital.” She discussed how the incident had been “really scary, not just for girls but for guys … for anyone. You have to really be careful with your drink.” 

Tara Reid’s Case Gets an Update

At the time of her interview, Reid was not able to answer whether she had been tested for specific substances. An update in the case has since happened, and Rosemont police have commented on details in the incident, and how they do not believe Reid was drugged, as there is no evidence to suggest this. 

The authorities “have found that no criminal act was committed against the actress,” WGNTV reports. “We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar, which is standard practice for bartenders to do,” the police shared in a statement. “While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities.” 

Authorities acknowledged that they had not received the hospital records or the chemical testing results at this time. However, they were no longer investigating the incident as a criminal case.
