The Cincinnati Bengals picked up a huge victory in Week 13, thanks in large part to the return of star quarterback Joe Burrow. Despite being without one of his top targets in the passing game, Tee Higgins, Burrow carved up the Baltimore Ravens‘ defense, leading the Bengals to a much-needed 32-14 victory.
While Cincy only has a 4-8 record heading into Week 14, it still has a very good shot of finding its way into the postseason. Of course, they are likely going to have to win out in order to accomplish that goal, and ahead of a crucial matchup against the Buffalo Bills, the team has received a major injury update regarding Higgins’ status for their upcoming action.
Tee Higgins Clears Concussion Protocol for the Bengals
While the Bengals got off to a decent start this season, winning their first two games, they lost Burrow to a turf toe injury in their Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cincinnati would go on to lose eight of its next nine games, putting itself in a very deep hole that it now has to work its way out of over its remaining five contests.
Cincy finally got back in the win column against Baltimore, despite not having Higgins at its disposal after he suffered a concussion late in the team’s Week 12 loss to the New England Patriots. Despite his absence, the Bengals did what they had to in order to cruise past the Ravens on Thanksgiving Day, keeping their postseason hopes alive for at least one more week.
Having Burrow back is huge, but for Cincinnati to make a real playoff push, it needed its big three of Burrow, Chase, and Higgins on the field at the same time. While that did not happen against the Ravens, it will happen against the Bills, as Higgins has officially cleared the league’s concussion protocol, which will allow him to return to the field on Sunday.
“Bengals WR Tee Higgins has cleared concussion protocol and is full go for Sunday vs. Buffalo,” Ben Baby of ESPN shared in a post on X.

It’s just been another one of those years where not much has gone the Bengals’ way, but they still have a shot to salvage their season and find their way into the playoffs. It’s not going to be easy to accomplish, as the Bills are a very tough opponent, but with Burrow, Chase, and Higgins all on the field together, it feels like anything is possible.
Even then, beating Buffalo is going to be easier said than done. The Bills haven’t been perfect as of late, but if they can get ahead early, they could end up running all over the Bengals’ weak defense in this game. It’s going to be imperative for Cincinnati to strike first because it’s going to be tough to win while playing catch-up against Buffalo. Kickoff for this very important contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
