Councilmember Bob Blumenfield’s holiday drive collects toys and clothes for those in need
Los Angeles City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield held his annual holiday drive on Thursday in Reseda where nonprofit organizations and community leaders brought toys, nonperishable dry and canned goods, hygiene products and other items that will be distributed to children and families in need.
The toys will be sorted and sent to local non-profits that have toy giveaways, including Guadalupe Center in Canoga Park, Kids Cancer Connection in Woodland Hills, West Valley YMCA, and New Economics for Women. And the non-perishable dry or canned goods will go to food insecure families via local food banks including West Valley Food Pantry and ONEgeneration Senior Enrichment Center.

“The generosity of West Valley residents is unmatched and I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who donated toys and other items to those in need,” Blumenfield said. “I am so proud to serve our community during the holidays and all year round.”
“Events like these are essential to provide survivors with the items they need during the holidays,” said Iliana Tavera, CEO of Haven Hills, a nonprofit that provides shelter for survivors of domestic violence. “Most importantly, we want to thank Councilmember Blumenfield for ensuring that survivors in the community have the resources they need to live lives free from violence and to build independence.”
“Giving and charity is an essential part of our faith and practice,” said Payam Ayazi, volunteer and spokesperson for the nonprofit MTO Shahmaghsoudi. “MTO participates each year with this toy drive and we are happy to work with our city leaders, community partners and with Bob Blumenfield’s office, to help distribute these items. … This is a time of giving and unfortunately many people are facing hardship. This is just one way we give back to our community. Seeing the joy and smiles of children and families brings a sense of joy and renewed commitment to what we do.”
