Netflix remains the most popular streaming platform, making it a top choice for people looking for something new to watch. In particular, it has a wide variety of movies that, despite success, may be new to many viewers. Here are three new movies to watch on Netflix this weekend.Â
Quentin Tarantino’s ‘The Hateful Eight’
Tarantino may be embroiled in a media storm at the moment, but he remains one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in Hollywood. Many would agree that his 2015 film, “The Hate U Give,” is one of his best, and it’s available to stream on Netflix.
“The Hateful Eight” is considered a revisionist Western film. It centers on a group of characters trapped in a remote location. It has an R rating.
The film, which stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Walton Goggins among other high-profile names, boasts an impressive 74 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience reviews for the film come out to a 77 percent on the platform.
Maria Schrader’s ‘I’m Your Man’
As everyone knows, rom-coms are among the most popular movie genres. One of the best Netflix has to offer is Schrader’s 2021 film “I’m Your Man.” The beloved German movie is about a scientist who must take part in a taunting research study in order to fund her work. Oddly, the study includes her living with a humanoid robot for three weeks.
It stars Maren Eggert and Dan Stevens, who many will know from “Downton Abbey.” As far as reviews go, it currently sits at a 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. It has an 80 percent audience rating. “I’m Your Man” is rated R.
Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’
As most movie lovers know, Nolan is one of the most significant names in cinema. Because of this, it’s hard to go wrong with any of his 12 feature films. One of what some would call his most underrated films is 2020’s “Tenet.” Notably, it was released amid the 2020 pandemic, which hurt its chance at success.
“Tenet” stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki. The science fiction film is about a CIA agent who uses technology to reverse the flow of time. The agent is tasked with preventing a Third World War, making the movie fairly tense.
It has a healthy 70 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Moviegoers liked “Tenet” more than critics, giving it a 76 on the platform.
