Broncos QB Bo Nix Tops Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen in Critical ‘Clutch’ Statistics

There is a select group of NFL quarterbacks every year who not only win a lot of games but also find their games dissected every week  — and not in a good way.

Count Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix among those in 2025, where he and his team are 10-2 and have won 9 consecutive games but Nix, week in and week out, gets treated like week-old leftovers by the talking heads.

DNVR’s Zac Stevens dug up some pretty telling numbers on Nix. Numbers which tell a different story and puts him in league with former NFL MVP quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen over the last 2 seasons.

“Game-winning drives since 2024: Bo Nix 9, Patrick Mahomes 8, Josh Allen 5,” Stevens wrote on his official X account. “4th-quarter comebacks since 2024: Bo Nix 8, Patrick Mahomes 6, Josh Allen 2.”

Nix Has Outperformed Fellow ’24 Quarterbacks

The Broncos, who travel to face the last place Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14, have seen their franchise come back to life with Nix at quarterback.

The No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Nix led the Broncos to a 10-7 record and their first playoff appearance since 2015 as a rookie and finished as runner-up for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

While there hasn’t been a marked improvement in Nix’s overall numbers in 2025 and he’s on pace for almost the same statistical output as his rookie year, the thing Nix does best is play well with the game on the line.

Of the record-setting 6 quarterbacks taken in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, he’s the only one on pace to make it to the playoffs in each of his first 2 seasons.

Two of the quarterbacks picked above him — Michael Penix at No. 8 overall to the Atlanta Falcons and J.J. McCarthy at No. 10 overall to the Minnesota Vikings — already look like busts. Penix and McCarthy have a combined 6-14 record as starting quarterbacks and have missed a combined 20 games due to injuries.

Penix is out for the rest of the regular season and could miss part of next year as well after tearing his ACL on November 16.

“Let’s get some people mad with the truth: Bo Nix is a top 10 QB,” Sleeper Broncos wrote on its official X account on December 4.

“If the Broncos finish 15-2, Bo Nix would set a new NFL record for most wins (25) by a QB in his first two seasons,” Mile High Huddle’s Zack Kelberman wrote on his official X account. “The record is currently held by Russell Wilson.”

Brutal Stretch Run Awaits Broncos

The Broncos have a brutal stretch run over the last month of the season — not including the Raiders — that could either make them a Super Bowl contender or expose them as fakes. Which means they’re going to need plenty of Nix’s clutch heroics.

Denver’s last 4 games of the regular season, the Broncos face teams who would be in the playoffs right now with the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers.

The other game is against the 3-time defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day at Arrowhead Stadium.
