A JLS star has shared a series of photos from hospital after undergoing surgery.
A month after revealing he’d been injured while rehearsing for his band’s The Club Is Alive: 2025 Hits Tour, this weekend, Aston Merrygold posted photos on social media that showed him in a hospital gown and being supported by crutches.
In one snap, he was holding one crutch in the air and pouting, declaring in the caption alongside a knife and leg emoji: ‘Here we go.’
He was quickly flooded with messages of support from friends and fans, who wished him luck ahead of the operation.
Aston later shared an update on how it all went, explaining: ‘Done, done & done! Thanks for all the love and support everyone…thankfully everything went to plan in surgery.
‘Shout out to the incredible Dr’s, nurses and staff at the hospital!! I’m home with my favourites so the rest and recovery starts now.’
Posting a series of photos, the first showed Aston lying in bed looking pleased and holding his thumbs up, as well as a selfie smiling with his wife Sarah Louise, their three kids and then being helped by a medical professional while he practised walking on the crutches.
Commenting on the post, his bandmate Marvin Humes wrote: ‘My guy! Over the moon everything went well.’
His wife, former The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes, also left three prayer emojis for Aston.
Meanwhile JB Gill declared: ‘Great news! Well done bro 👊🏾 #projectrecuperate.’
Although Aston didn’t specify what exactly he had to have surgery for, last month he detailed facing a painful injury.
In early November he shared a photo hugging two of his kids while wearing a moon boot, while another snap showed his right foot bandaged up and appearing swollen and later being in a cast.
He simply shared the caption: ‘It’s been quite a week.’
However, his wife then added: ‘If anyone can pull it off it’s you. Proud of you baby.’
Aston later explained he’d had ‘a bit of an accident that requires surgery’.
The singer first rose to fame in 2006 as part of JLS, whose members also included Marvin, JB and Oritsé Williams.
The group were runners up of the fifth season of the X Factor and went on to achieve five number one singles on the UK singles chart and a number one album on the UK Albums Chart.
After selling over 10 million records, they disbanded in 2013 but later reunited five years ago.
Last month they returned to the stage for their The Club Is Alive: 2025 Hits Tour, which included 18 shows.
Aston is also known for judging the series Got to Dance, competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and starring as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz stage show.
He shares children Grayson Jax, Macauley Shay and Riley Skye with wife Sarah Louise, whom he married in 2022.
