Jason Bateman Vulnerably Opens Up with Where He Stands with His Famous Sibling

Jason Bateman has been in some of the most talked-about television shows and movies from recent memory. However, he remains fairly private outside of his work. Recently, he made rare comments about his famous sister, Justine Bateman.

Bateman spoke to Esquire about their relationship and revealed how often they see each other. The “Black Rabbit” star said, “There isn’t the typical, ‘We see each other every Thanksgiving or every Christmas and our kids want to be together.’ There isn’t that. In a great way.”

He continued, “Our conversations are the rich conversations you would have with an adult friend, not the kind of petulant back-and-forth you might have with your adult sibling.”

Bateman went on to say how much he and his sister value one another. According to him, “We hang out, and we’re nice to each other because we respect one another as individuals, regardless of the blood thing.”

He added, “I’m seeing her for lunch next week.”


This isn’t Jason Bateman’s First Time Making Similar Comments

Both Bateman siblings are in the entertainment industry. However, she’s more behind the camera these days as she’s a producer and filmmaker. However, she did appear on “Family Ties” when she was 16. Bateman spoke about his relationship with his sister in a 2015 interview with the “WTF With Marc Maron” podcast.

He said, “Well, let’s earn the relationship that adults should or could have. You’re not handcuffed because of the blood. You’ve gotta earn it. She’s about a mile from my house. … I could be a better uncle, brother, son.”

For context, Bateman’s sister has two children, Gianetta and Duke, with her husband, Mark Fluent. Likewise, Bateman also has two children, Francesca and Maple, with his wife, Amanda Anka.


He Remains a Busy Man in Hollywood

Bateman is one of the most sought-after actors working today. His latest film, “Zootopia 2,” is currently dominating the worldwide box office. According to Box Office Mojo, the film has already earned an impressive $917,984,779 worldwide.

Additionally, he starred alongside Jude Law in the 2025 Netflix limited series “Black Rabbit.” The show has a “fresh” 67 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. The audience reviews on the platform have it at 81 percent.

Regarding one of his upcoming projects, per Deadline, Bateman is set to direct “The Partner,” based on a John Grisham novel. He’s also the executive producer for the upcoming film. It’s unclear when production will begin.
