Glenn Close knows exactly where she wants to die.
The 78-year-old Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery actress has come up with a detailed plan of how she wants to go, and it all goes back to a former slaughterhouse.
Glenn is keen to go back to her family roots when she dies, and she’s already working on creating the perfect setting for herself.
‘[My grandparents] had this wonderful stone cottage on their farm, on their property that I think originally had been a slaughterhouse,’ she told Julia Louis-Dreyfus‘ Wiser Than Me podcast.
‘But it was made into this really cosy cottage. And that was my first memory, in that little cottage.’
She added: ‘I have decided that I am going to end my days in that cottage.’
The All’s Fair star recalled the idyllic home, which was made of stone and ‘had ivy on the front’.
‘It had a, literally, a white picket fence around it, in the middle of a hay field and woods,’ she recalled.
‘So I decided when I was building this house, because I’m living my life backward, that behind the house I was gonna build a cottage, a stone cottage.
‘Because the happiest and most inspiring years of my life was in that place.’
There will be two bedrooms at the home – one for Glenn and another for a caretaker – and she’s adamant ‘that’s where [she’s] gonna die’.
‘Happily,’ she added, before giving an update on how much progress has been made on the replica cottage.
‘I think the stone part is built,’ she explained, noting that work is set to start on the porch, which will lead ‘onto a terrace that’s between the cottage and the bigger house’.
Thankfully, although Glenn is putting some plans in place for her death, Glenn feels younger than ever.
As well as a leading down in Ryan Murphy’s divisive All’s Fair legal drama, she’s also in new Knives Out film Wake Up Dead Man.
She’s also been cast as Drusilla Sickle in 2026’s The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, as well as landing a role in as upcoming Spanish drama La bola Negra (The Black Ball)
‘Oh God, I feel probably around in my 20s. Maybe early 30s. When I think of how old I actually am, it just amazes me,’ she said. ‘So I don’t think about it much. Cause I don’t think I fit into whatever people expect you to be like when you’re 78 years old.’
