HAYWARD — A man died Thursday night after he was struck by a BART train on the tracks at the Hayward station, authorities said.
The coroner’s bureau on Friday was trying to confirm the man’s name and notify his relatives.
The fatal collision happened about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on the tracks at the station, which is at 699 B St.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Why the man was on the trackway is under investigation.
The station was closed until just after 1 a.m. while the death was investigated. Train service did continue after some initial delays because of single tracking, officials said.
