A man has been charged after a university student was killed and two others were injured in a collision in central London.
Christopher Jackson, 27, of Southampton, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a crash outside the King’s College London (KCL) campus in the Strand on March 18.
Aalia Mahomed, 20, died at the scene while a man and woman in their 20s were seriously injured and taken to hospital – but were later discharged.
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to a location close to the university campus at 11.41am following a collision involving a van and pedestrians.

The London Ambulance Service also attended the scene where Ms Mahomed tragically died as a result of her injuries.
Jackson was charged on December 1 and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 5.
In a moving tribute, Ms Mahomed’s family said she was a ‘bright, kind and beautiful soul’.
During a memorial held earlier this year on what would have been her graduation, Ms Mahomed’s younger brother Zain unveiled a plaque underneath a cherry blossom planted in her name.

The plaque read: ‘In loving memory of our forever shining star, Aalia Mohamed.

Zain said his sister was ‘amazing’ and that she was ‘really smart, lovely [and] funny’.
