Jalen Williams: Thunder Would Beat Every Legendary NBA Team

The Oklahoma City Thunder currently holds a great chance of making history on multiple levels this season. An incredible 24-1 start sees the Thunder on pace to threaten the 2016 Golden State Warriors best regular season record ever of 73-9. Most consider the 72-10 Chicago Bulls from 1996 to be the best team ever since they won the NBA Championship, while Golden State fell one game short in the NBA Finals during their dream season.

Current conversations see comparisons made and fans wondering if Oklahoma City can prove they are the best team in league history. All-Star forward Jalen Williams claimed his Thunder would beat any all-time team challenging them when asked in an interview with popular Twitch streamer Agent 00.

Agent 00: “Current OKC or 2017 Warriors?”

Jalen Williams: “Oh, my team?”

Agent: “Yeah.”

Williams: “Oh yeah, I’m always going to say my team.”

Agent: “Current OKC [or] ’95 Bulls?”

Williams: “I’m gonna say our team again.”

Agent: “Current OKC or 2019 Raptors?”

Williams: “Our team.”

The conversation switched to Williams expressing pride over the Thunder’s current success and getting in the conversation with many of the greatest teams in league history. Agent confused the years for the Warriors and Bulls when referencing their record breaking seasons by naming one year earlier for each.

Is Jalen Williams Right About Warriors?

Golden State lost their chance to be called the greatest single season team in NBA history after losing the 2016 NBA Championship to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The embarrassing context of losing a 3-1 series lead made their regular season record feel less special compared to other teams that won the title.

Warriors fans would name all four teams to win the NBA Championship over the past decade as more positive memories than the 2016 team that fell short. Winning the title is the most important thing, and it is hard to be the greatest team ever without that crowning moment.

Williams talking boldly does put extra pressure on the Thunder to repeat as NBA Champions. Oklahoma City would usually have a less stressful season as defending champs holding goodwill from the past season, but the hot start means the title is a must now as they chase history.

Is Jalen Williams Right About Bulls?

The 1996 Bulls are universally considered the greatest basketball team ever for many reasons. Michael Jordan’s first full season back from retirement saw Chicago dominating the regular season from start to finish with an astonishing 72-10 record.

However, it was the postseason dominance in a field of many great teams that gave them a stronger argument. The Bulls went 11-1 in the Eastern Conference playoffs and swept the dominant 60-win Orlando Magic team that eliminated them one season prior.

Chicago did lose two games to the Seatle SuperSonics in the NBA Finals, but they had a 3-0 lead that saw the series never in doubt. Oklahoma City must have a dominant postseason and show their greatness on the biggest stage when challengers give their all. This is a must for Williams to be right about the 2025-2026 Thunder being the greatest team ever.
