Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders took a big step back week-over-week, throwing three interceptions against the Chicago Bears after tossing three touchdowns the game before against the Tennessee Titans.
His father and Colorado Buffaloes head coach, Deion Sanders, posted a message on social media following Sanders’ worst game of the year in a 31-3 loss to the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday, December 14.
“Well, it didn’t come out like we wanted it to, but we’re thankful that the outcome taught us things that will ultimately bless us on our journey #CoachPrime,” Deion Sanders posted to X.

Reporters asked Sanders after the game about the difference between his Week 14 and Week 15 performances.
“I’m the same person regardless, so, I still got the same belief in myself,” Sanders responded. “Like it is every week, you gotta get out there, learn from it, play better and that’s it.”
He added that the weather conditions were not a “big factor” in his struggles or those of the team, though the rookie signal-caller did express regret for some of the decisions he made throughout the course of the day.
“I would like to have the majority of plays back, for sure,” Sanders continued. “Shout out to the [Bears’] defensive coordinator. The team, they did a lot of great stuff. … They had a great defensive scheme, and I enjoyed playing against them. I enjoyed playing in that because, you know, it was definitely a little challenge, so I look forward to learning from that.”
Of Sanders’ three interceptions on the day, one of them hit top wide receiver Jerry Jeudy in the hands. Jeudy bobbled the catch, and Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson reached in and snatched the football from the wideout’s uncertain grasp.
“That’s gonna happen,” Sanders said of Jeudy’s mistake. “It is what it is. I’m not one to ever kick somebody when he’s down. He understands that’s a big play, and I’m sure he’s hard on himself, so there’s no need for me to be extra and do that.”
Kevin Stefanski Confirmed That Shedeur Sanders Remains Starting QB After 3-Interception Outing in Chicago

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters following the game that Sanders has not lost his place as the team’s starting quarterback. Stefanski confirmed last week that the fifth-round rookie would lead the offense through the end of the season, which means at least three more games through early January.
Stefanski did not go into detail as to what Sanders did, or did not do, against the Bears defense in freezing temperatures that led to a major regression over a seven-day period, saying he wanted to comb over the film before making any definitive assessments.
“I know there’s things that we can do better, I know there’s things that he can do better,” Stefanski said. “We’ll look at it.”
Cleveland hosts the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, December 21, before finishing the year with a home contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers and a road game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
