Rob Reiner was a beloved director of legendary movies like “The Princess Bride” and “This Is Spinal Tap,” but more than that, he was an adored father. In May of this year, his 28-year-old daughter, Romy, shared a heartwarming video chatting with her father which ended up being their final social media post together.

Romy is one of three children Reiner shared with his wife, Michele, who died with him on December 14, 2025. He also has one more adopted daughter, Tracy, from his previous marriage to Penny Marshall.

In the video, Rob is seen telling Romy about the “3 Rules of Getting Older” he learned from a former secret service agent who worked as a consultant on his 1995 romantic comedy “The American President.”

Reiner tell his daughter in the video that a secret service agent “told me three things that I actually used in “The Bucket List,” referencing his 2007 adventure comedy.

He went on, “Number one, never pass up a bathroom,” before revealing the second tip is that men should never waste the opportunity when they manage to get romantically turned on. He says the third tip he was told is to “never trust a fart.” Reiner continued, “I thought this was good advice, and I had Jack Nicholson say that.”

Romy then joking asks her dad, “Have you continued to go by those rules?” to which he replies, “Well as you get older, you REALLY don’t wanna pass a bathroom up.” As to the second tip, Romy joked, “I don’t wanna know about that. I will learn about that later.” Reiner quipped back, “Sure you will.”

Since the tragic events of December 14 in which Reiner and his wife were stabbed to death in their home, fans have flooded Romy’s Instagram comments with condolences.

One wrote, “Heartbreaking..im so so sorry for your loss.”
