Amy Schumer and her ex, Chris Fischer, are still living under the same roof amid their separation, per Page Six.
According to a source, the two plan on co-parenting their six-year-old son, Gene, and that they’re living together to make things easier for him.
“She wants them to continue to be very much united when it comes to raising their son,” the insider shared. “Amy wants Chris to stick around for Gene ⦠If she contemplates another comedy tour at any point in the future, she wants Chris to be the one looking after Gene and ideally be willing to travel with her. She just never wants to be romantically involved with him again.”
Schumer is Focusing on Her Career
While Schumer has been largely quiet about her divorce from Fischer, a source revealed to the Daily Mail that the reason for the breakup was that the comedian wants to focus on her career.
“When ‘Trainwreck’ came out in 2015, she was on fire with her career, and she was offered lots of roles that she ended up saying no to,” an insider told the publication.
“Then she got pregnant and did things here and there, but didn’t go full throttle as she would have liked. Now, 10 years on from the ‘Trainwreck’ high and success that started giving her the career she expected for herself, she’s looking to get that back and see if lightning strikes twice for a major movie career,” the source continued.
The unnamed person added, “With those career goals and her being a mother, she didn’t focus much on her marriage to make that succeed. But that is the life she was chasing, and the life she has chosen to take into the new year. She’s realized you can’t have everything, and the thing that suffered most was her marriage. Now she is trying to figure it all out one day at a time.”
Schumer announced her split from Fischer in an Instagram post shared on December 12. “Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time,” she wrote.
The “I Feel Pretty” star shared that the split was not due to her recent weight loss, adding, “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
Schumer is Hopeful For a Smooth Separation
GettyPrior to the separation announcement, Schumer addressed her absent wedding ring by telling fans in a now-deleted Instagram post shared by the New York Post, “I never wear jewelry.”
She wrote, “Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism. Fingers crossed we can make it through. Heâs the best.”
