The world is still reeling from the sad news that Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, passed away on December 14. This came after what is believed to have been a homicide committed by their son, Nick Reiner. Now, comedian Roseanne Barr has posted a vulnerable tribute to the beloved filmmaker.
Barr took to her official X page on the night of December 14 after learning of Reiner’s passing. The former “Roseanne” star said, “Iâm absolutely shocked and horrified to hear about Rob Reiner and his wife Michele.”
She continued, “This is a travesty. Praying for swift justice. Sympathies to their family and children. Iâm at a loss for words.”
Authorities Are Investigating The Reiners’ Passing
The news emerged that two bodies had been discovered in the home of the Reiners on December 14. Initially, no names were attached to the report. Later, it was confirmed that the two deceased individuals were Reiner and his wife.
According to a report from PEOPLE, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to the Brentwood mansion at 3:30 PM to provide aid. After arriving, they located a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman who had passed away.Â
The story is tragic all around. It became even more so when PEOPLE reported that multiple sources said the son committed the act. It has been reported that this all stemmed from an argument at comedian Conan O’Brien’s home.Â
Now, Reiner’s son has been arrested. However, it’s still important to note that he’s innocent until proven guilty.
The Family Has Issued a Statement as Fans Continue Paying Tribute
Reiner’s family has now issued a brief statement on the passing of the beloved filmmaker and his producer wife. They told Variety, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Now, in additon to Barr, many are paying tribute to the Reiners on social media. Rita Wilson wrote, “Rob and Michele Reiner are two people who really did make the world a better place. This is truth. We have been friends since our kids were toddlers attending the same preschool. Itâs impossible to reconcile the tragedy of their deaths with the beauty they offered the world.”
A fan of Reiner wrote, “itâs really not about the movies as rob reiner was much more than a filmmaker but i canât stop thinking about how the princess bride changed my life forever. it felt like capturing the wonder of childhood and possibility of love in film form. always a source of comfort.”
Finally, someone else tributed him by saying, “Ghosts of Mississippi, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, Misery, Stand By Me, A Few Good Men, Spinal Tap, Meathead. Actor, director, producer, humanitarian. One of the most important artists and activist voices of the past 50 years.Thank you, Rob Reiner.”
The Reiners will be missed, but their legacy will live on forever.
