Beatles legend Paul McCartney shared a touching tribute to late director Rob Reiner, revealing that the two had been working together before his tragic passing.

Paul McCartney Shares Tribute to Rob Reiner

McCartney took to Instagram on Monday, December 15—one day after news of Reiner and wife Michele Singer Reiner’s passing began to circulate—to share a sweet memory with the beloved director.

“What a tragedy the death of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, is. It is so shocking in many ways but for me especially so, because over the last year I had been working with him,” McCartney announced alongside a photo with the “A Few Good Men” director. “He directed me in ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’. He was such an upbeat, lovable man.”

McCartney continued, “Life can be so unfair and this tragedy proves it. His father, Carl Reiner, was a great humourist before him and Rob followed in his dad’s footsteps doing a terrific job making many great films. I will always have fond memories of Rob and the idea that he and his wife will no longer be in the world with us is heartbreaking.”

“Thanks for all the humour, Rob. Rest in Peace. Love Paul,” the beloved singer added.

“Spinal Tap II: The End Continues”—which also featured Elton John, his husband, David Furnish, Garth Brooks, wife Trisha Yearwood and more musical icons—is a mockumentary sequel to the 1984 film. Stars Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer reprised their roles as members of the fictional heavy metal band Spinal Tap.

Rob Reiner and Wife Michele’s Tragic Passing

The “Princess Bride” director and his wife of 35 years were found deceased in their Brentwood, California, home on Sunday, December 14. Reports began circulating that the late couple’s bodies were discovered by their daughter, Romy Reiner.

Rob attended Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday night with his son, Nick Reiner. The father-son duo reportedly got into a heated confrontation at the star-studded event.

Nick was taken into custody and charged with a felony—though the exact charges remain unspecified. He is being held without bond in connection with the murders of his parents.

“The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths,” the LAPD said on Monday. “Nick Reiner was located and arrested at approximately 9:15 p.m. He was booked for murder and remains in custody with no bail. On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.”
