
Martin Grelis, the Australian actor best known for his role in âThe Matrix,â has died at 57. His death was confirmed by his talent agency, Sophie Jermyn Management, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes from fans, friends, and colleagues who remembered him as both a gifted performer and a generous soul.

Sophie Jermyn Management confirmed Grelisâ death in a statement shared publicly.
âVale Martin. We’re so saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved client,â the agency said. âMartin was a bright spark who lit up every room he was in – a talented actor, a kind person, and a wonderful soul. Our condolences and thoughts are with his family and loved ones in this difficult time. Gone far too soon xx.â
The statement echoed sentiments across the entertainment community, with many describing Grelis as warm, collaborative, and deeply kind.
A Career Spanning More Than Three Decades
Grelis enjoyed a career that stretched more than 30 years. He began acting in 1999, appearing as Boba Fett in the fan production âThe Dark Redemption.â
He later landed a small role in the Australian drama âBig Skyâ before appearing in âThe Matrixâ as a military helicopter pilot.
In the 1999 sci-fi blockbuster, Keanu Reeves starred as Neo, a computer hacker who discovers humanity is living inside a simulated reality controlled by intelligent machines. Grelis appeared in the iconic helicopter sequence involving Agent Smith, played by Hugo Weaving.
Over the years, Grelis also appeared in the film âIron Sky,â the TV movie âSchapelle,â and the television series âRake.â
More recently, he played Christopher in the miniseries âAlpha Kingâ and appeared in the short film âThe Trial.â His final screen appearance was reportedly earlier this year on âAlpha King.â
