Giants’ Jaxson Dart Drops True Feelings on Vikings’ Defense

The Minnesota Vikings‘ defense has delivered two impressive performances in back-to-back weeks, leading to two straight wins for the team.

Against the Washington Commanders, the Vikings defense pitched a shutout; meanwhile, in the win over the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota’s defense bent but didn’t break, forcing the opposition to settle for field goals.

In Week 16, the Vikings will face their third straight NFC East opponent in the New York Giants. On December 17, Giants starting quarterback Jaxson Dart shared his thoughts on defensive coordinator Brian Flores.

“‘Just chaos,” Dart told reporters when asked about his description of Flores’ defense. “Trying to disguise different looks and bring a whole bunch of different pressures, but they’re organized in the back end, too. So they do it soundly.”

Dak Prescott Praises Vikings’ Defense

After the loss to the Vikings in Week 15, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott shared what Flores and the Minnesota defense did that frustrated them that could be used against Dart in an effort to secure a third straight win.

“The [Cover 0] that we talked about throughout the week showed up a lot,” Prescott told reporters. “We did not have a good enough answer, and when you do not have a good enough answer for that, especially against Flores, you are going to see it again and again. That is what happened.

“They did a great job on the back end, playing with vision. It made it tough to get to the beaters, the normal [Cover 0] beaters when they are playing man. They were not just looking at the man; they were looking at the quarterback.

“They were able to rally when you throw it underneath, and you do not have time to get it past them; they did a good job, kept it on us, and we did not adjust fast enough or come up with something good enough to scare them out of it. We saw it the whole game.”

Justin Jefferson Opens Up About J.J. McCarthy

Much like the Vikings’ defense, J.J. McCarthy will be looking to have a third straight contest in which he performs well. The second-year quarterback was involved in three touchdowns, throwing for two and adding another on the ground.

Additionally, he completed 15 of 24 passes for 250 yards. The only setback came on the opening snap, when defensive tackle Quinnen Williams intercepted a tipped pass.

Following the win over Dallas, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson shared his perspective on what he has observed from McCarthy over the past two outings, as the rookie quarterback works to finish the season with momentum.

“Coming off of last week’s game, a 31-0 victory, that’s something to have confidence in and really feed off of,” Jefferson told reporters. “Coming into this week, we had a similar game plan as last week, keeping everything pretty simple and letting [McCarthy] go out there and play freely. It just comes down to executing the plays.

“I feel like all 11 guys went out there with the mindset to win this game and do whatever we need to do to score points and be ahead when the clock hits zero. I’m just proud of him, leading this team and this offense. Of course, we still have work to do, need to make improvements, and have a game next week, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.”
