Sarah Paulson Unrecognizable on Set of New Project

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson is diving into one of her most intense and transformative roles yet as she steps into the shoes of infamous serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the upcoming season for Netflix’s “Monster.”

First photos from the set reveal Paulson’s dramatic embodiment of the real-life figure, offering a powerful look at her dedication to complex character work and the emotional weight of portraying a controversial figure.

Paulson Looks Totally Different

The images show Paulson in full costume and makeup as Wuornos — complete with closely cropped hair, expressive eyes and an unflinching presence that reflects the stark reality of her subject’s life.

The 51-year-old actress can be seen wearing a maroon robe with grey sweatpants and carrying a to-go bag from a SusieCakes location in the Los Angeles area.

In other images, Paulson was seen holding a water.

The visual shift is considerable from Paulson’s usual public persona, underscoring her commitment to fully inhabiting a character whose story has captivated and divided audiences for decades.

Paulson’s involvement in the Ryan Murphy show has generated significant buzz given her track record for fearless performances in projects ranging from “American Horror Story” to “Mrs. America” and “Ocean’s 8.”

The project is the latest season Murphy’s anthology series “Monster,” which covered Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers and Ed Gein in prior seasons.

It’s unclear how large of a role Paulson will have in the season, as it is set to focus on Lizzie Borden, who was famously acquitted in 1893 for the axe murders of her dad and stepmother.

Critics and fans alike have long praised Paulson’s ability to navigate characters with depth, vulnerability and raw energy.

Wuornos killed seven men between 1989 and 1990 and was executed in 2002.

Her life story has inspired films, documentaries and books that grapple with her motivations, trauma and the legal controversies surrounding her trials.

In tackling such a complex figure, Paulson is stepping into territory that requires not just physical transformation but deep emotional engagement.

Fans React

Social media reactions to the first photos have ranged from admiration for Paulson’s dramatic transformation to curiosity about how the project will differentiate itself from earlier portrayals of Wuornos.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the transformation.

“Omgggggg,” one user wrote, alongside numerous fire emojis.

“She does actually look like her,” another user noted. “Can’t wait.”

Paulson previously told Variety in December she has been researching the role and actually accepted the role script unseen.

“I’m coming on to do a particular thing that I can’t talk about,” she said. “But I’m always going to be interested in the why of human behavior. If there’s any opportunity for me to get inside something that has been predetermined by society and have a little look at it through my own particular lens, I’m always going to want to do that. Ryan knows that.”
