<p id=”par-2_60″>After years of being in the spotlight as a member of the most famous polygamous family in America, the <em>Sister Wives </em>star says she is relishing a slower, more intentional kind of life since <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/reality-tv/janelle-brown-has-cut-her-ties-to-flagstaff-arizona.html/”>relocating from Arizona to North Carolina</a>. Today, she’s in control of her own narrative, she said in a recent social media update. She couldn’t be happier.</p>

<p id=”par-3_40″>“I was thinking about this earlier today, just doing normal life stuff, and it hit me again how strange it is to have people ‘know’ your story without ever really knowing you,” Janelle wrote in her December 19 <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DSdPvlMkdOz/?img_index=1″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram</a> post.</p>
<p id=”par-4_89″>In 2010, Janelle and her family began sharing their story of living as polygamist Mormons in their TLC show. Fifteen years later, the show is still going, though the family has changed considerably. Janelle and two of her fellow sisters wives, Meri Brown and Christine Brown, have left their husband, Kody Brown, who now has just one wife, Robyn Brown. Meanwhile, all three ex-sister wives have gotten more candid in recent years about how the version of <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/sister-wives-confusion-kody-and-robyn-claim-they-need-a-fresh-start-but-no-one-was-welcome-in-their-house-anyway.html/”>their lives as seen on <em>Sister Wives</em></a><em> </em>didn’t always match their reality.</p>
<p id=”par-5_19″>For Janelle, there was always a disconnect between how she was portrayed on screen versus how she felt inside.</p>
<p id=”par-6_38″>“For so long I felt like I was running to catch up with the version of me the world created… the strong one, the steady one, the one who didn’t bend even when things were heavy,” she wrote.</p>
<p id=”par-7_39″>“But there were so many pieces of me that never made it onto a screen and now, in this quieter chapter, I’m realizing how good it feels to finally share from my heart instead of a storyline,” she continued.</p>
<p id=”par-8_20″>“It’s vulnerable, yes, but also really freeing,” Janelle wrote. “It feels like reclaiming something I didn’t even realize I lost.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_45″>With her troubled marriage behind her and a new home on the other side of the country, Janelle is embracing her next chapter. That includes starting a new business, Second Chapter Coaching, designed to help women who’ve realized something needs to shift in their lives.</p>
<p id=”par-10_32″>“Now that life is quieter, I’m learning to open up in ways I never had space to before,” she wrote on a photo of herself enjoying an ocean view from a balcony.</p>

<p id=”par-11_24″>While Janelle and the rest of the Browns are still participating in <em>Sister Wives, </em>all of Kody’s exes have branched out beyond the show.</p>
<p id=”par-12_52″>Christine has remarried and now frequently speaks about embracing health and wellness in her 50s. She also penned a memoir, <em>Sister Wife: Memoir of Faith, Family, and Finding Freedom</em>. In the book, she opens up about her childhood in a polygamous family and her experiences with Kody and her sister wives.</p>
<p id=”par-13_29″>Meanwhile, Meri keeps busy running her own B&B in Utah. She has also started <a href=”https://www.worthyup.com/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Worthy Up</a>, “a community that celebrates individual growth and empowerment through inspiration, insight, and impact.”</p>
