Taylor Swift-Inspired Cocktails Don’t Help as Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes’ Restaurant Gets Trashed With Brutal Review

Earlier this year, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes partnered off the football field when they opened the restaurant 1587 Prime in Kansas City’s Loews Hotel.

The name for the steakhouse comes from the athletes’ jersey numbers and opened to plenty of hype as not only the place to see and be seen but also a place where some diners hope for a chance to see the players or Kelce’s fiancée.

The eatery acknowledges how big of a draw Taylor Swift is and even incorporated the star in their marketing with a cocktail inspired by “The Fate of Ophelia” singer.

Reservations at 1587 Prime are required and released 21 days in advance. So how have people who have eaten at the steakhouse graded the NFL players’ establishment?

Well, according to one food critic, the two should stick to football.

Food critic Liz Cook wrote a detailed review for <a href=”https://defector.com/two-nights-playing-with-fire-at-patrick-mahomes-and-travis-kelces-steakhouse” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Defector after her second visit to 1587 Prime.

“I regret to announce that I have visited 1587 Prime. There are at least two employees whose main job appears to be setting things on fire,” she posted on X, before opining that ‘The Alchemy’ cocktail, which was inspired by Swift, “tasted like a Cosmo someone had strained through a French Vanilla Yankee Candle.”

Cook also mentioned the high prices, with her steak costing $78 plus $15 price for sauces, which she described as “three small ramekins of ketchup.”

The critic added, “Complaining about the prices at 1587 Prime is like complaining about the wind on Mount Everest: predictable, but hardly the worst part of the experience. All the same, there is no need for anything this mediocre to cost this much. Ultimately, 1587 Prime is a parched vision of luxury with rehashed ideas … and lazy local outsourcing for stations that a top-tier restaurant should staff.”

Cook isn’t the only person with complaints. A quick scroll through the reviews of the restaurant and you’ll find the others who weren’t impressed either. One person wrote, “In my opinion, any high-dollar restaurant should make an effort on every dish especially presentation of main entrees, which there was absolutely none. Lobstertail was overcooked, petite filet was overcooked.”

And another opined, “The bone in strip was tough. The mashed potatoes were great. Mushrooms were not cooked well-they were super tough. For the price, I would have expected better as far as the mushrooms & strip steak.”

But for every person who didn’t enjoy their experience at 1587 Prime, there are plenty of people who did.

Kelsey Huson of <a href=”https://www.businessinsider.com/trying-travis-kelce-restaurant-1587-prime-steakhouse-what-its-like-2025-10#for-me-1587-prime-was-a-must-visit-spot-1″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Business Insider said, “My first impression of the restaurant can be summarized in one word: luxurious. With its marble doorway and gold accents, the restaurant gave me quite the first impression before I’d even walked through the large double doors … As the decor seemed to hint at, 1587 Prime offered an impressive selection of beverages … The Swiftie in me couldn’t pass up The Alchemy, and I’m glad I didn’t, since it was more than just a drink — it was an experience …

“When our entrées came, staff rolled a cart over to our table and flambéed a mixture of brandy, bone-marrow butter, and herbs before drizzling it over the steak. Again, the experience? Unmatched … Each entrée was incredible.”

Even Cook herself had some positives, noting that she was impressed with the decor and how popular the restaurant is with diners in Kansas City. She also liked how a smart dress code was enforced.
