Pat Finn’s Family Receives Financial Support While Struggling with Growing Health Bills

Comedian and actor Pat Finn’s death was announced on December 24. He was 60. It has been revealed that the actor, celebrated for his work in “The Middle,” “Friends,” and “Murphy Brown,” died from bladder cancer. 

Finn is survived by his wife, Donna, and their children, Cassidy, Caitlin, and Ryan. “He was the kindest, most joyful person in any room, and was surrounded by his incredibly close and loving family and friends,” a statement about his death reads, Entertainment Weekly reports. Fans are now rallying around his family in a show of support.

As Finn bravely fought a private battle with cancer for three years, the costs relating to his treatment continued to pile up. A GoFundMe page was set up for the family to help with the ginormous bills. Titled “Help the Finn Family Through Pat’s Fight,” with Donna Finn listed as the beneficiary, the fundraiser was started on November 25. It shares insight into the late actor’s health and his family’s struggles.

“The Finn family, cherished friends of so many of us, are truly in a tough spot. Pat has been battling cancer on and off for the better part of three years,” the statement on the fundraising page reads. “Throughout the grueling and painful process that is Pat’s fight against this insidious disease, the family has been a rock of support for each other. Pat, Donna, Cassidy, Caitlin, and Ryan have demonstrated enormous strength every day, supporting each other as Pat’s fight has become more complicated, challenging, and physically difficult. As friends, we all continue to offer our help, and it’s now time to expand that support into fundraising.”

The fund was started by the organiser, Friends of Pat. The statement expressed that Finn and his wife were initially “Reluctant to express any need.” However, the “residual financial demands have created significant financial burdens for the family.” They asked for any amount fans or loved ones could spare to help.

“We’ve started with a modest goal, but we plan to continue to increase our goal as donations come in,” the statement ends, before urging donations and thanking fans.  The initial goal is $230,000, and at the time of publication, the fund has raised over $174,000 from 326 supporters. It is well on its way to being fulfilled. 

Remembering Pat Finn

Finn’s daughter, Cassidy, paid tribute to him after his passing. She penned a touching message on Instagram and shared several throwback photos, including childhood photos. In the caption, she wrote a beautiful, lengthy message. Part of it reads, “Dad… you were and are a role model and an inspiration to everyone you met. I tried to think of a word to describe you, but no word could ever do it justice. You are Pat Finn.” 

Fans flooded the comment section with messages of love and support.
