A man in his 20s was fatally shot during an altercation with several people on a Metro bus in South Los Angeles, and the shooter was still on the loose today.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a shooting near a Metro bus stop at Normandie Avenue and West 39th Street, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
The location is just west of Exposition Park.
During the altercation near Metro Bus 206, one person from the group fired a weapon, striking the victim, police said. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, where they pronounced the victim dead.
The unidentified suspects ran from the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
“Metro extends its condolences to the victim’s family,” Metro media relations communications director Jose Ubaldo told CNS.
Anyone with information regarding the dispute or the shooting was asked to contact the LAPD, which is leading the investigation. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
