For most of the nation, watching a baking show after already stuffing your face with copious amounts of turkey and mince pies might not sound like a good idea.

But for fans of the legendary Channel 4 comedy Peep Show, one star may well have ‘saved Christmas’ after their performance on the Great British Bake Off Christmas Special 2025.

Reuniting for the first time since the sitcom went off the air ten years ago, David Mitchell, Isy Suttie, Matt King, Sophie Winkleman and Olivia Colman (Mark, Dobby, Superhans, Big Suze and Sophie in the series) tested their hands in the Bake Off tent.

This quintet of bakers were attempting to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood, while hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond resumed their usual duties.

However, following Olivia’s win on the Christmas special, viewers declared that ‘life is now complete’.

Viewers said that Olivia ‘may have saved Christmas’ (Picture: Channel 4/Love Productions/Mark Bourdillon via PA Wire)

@AnthonyShannon2 added: ‘Once again have fallen down the utterly delightful @BritishBakeOff rabbit hole.

‘A much needed comforting hug in TV form. Enjoyed The Great Peep Show Christmas Bake Off, now roll on the the next season of The Great British Bake Off…’

@JR_Dickenson also declared that they were ‘just living for the Peep Show Bake Off special and it certainly didn’t disappoint’.

Who did the Bake Off cast play on Peep Show?

David Mitchell: David Mitchell played the painfully awkward Mark Corrigan. Mark, of course, is best known for proposing to a woman accidentally, falling in love with his boss Alan Johnson, unintentionally befriending a racist, oh, and he wrote Business Secret of the Pharohs (or was that Mark Crorigan?)

Isy Suttie: Isy played Dobbie, one of Mark’s more unfortunate love interests.

Matt King: Matt King played the crack-addled maniac Super Hans, who once ran to Windsor and found A-Class substances a bit more-ish.

Sophie Winkleman: Before she was a member of the Royal family through marriage, Sophie played lovelky Big Suze.

Olivia Colman: While she’s now a national treasure and the toast of Tinsel Town, Olivia once played Sophie, Mark’s love interest and eventual wife… before it all fell apart.

Meanwhile, @DobbyClub06 said that Olivia’s recreation of the homeless ball pit was ‘absolutely ICONIC’.

@madgekin similarly added that her presence on the show ‘is PERFECTION’, adding: ‘I’ve not watched peep show but I feel like a kid in a candy shop #GBBO.’

Fans were overjoyed to see the cast reunite (Picture: Channel 4/Love Productions/Laura Palmer/PA Wire)

While most viewers were overjoyed to see the cast reunite, many were disappointed to see that Robert Webb (Jeremy) and Paterson Joseph (Johnson) did not feature.

Writing on social media, @RRcpfc said: ‘I’m a big fan of Peep show bake off but no Johnson or Jez?????’

However, towards the end of the episode, Robert did make a brief appearance via videolink to wis people a merry Christmas.

This also isn’t the first time Peep Show alumni have entered the Bake Off tent.

In 2015, David appeared on the Comic Relief special, which he found nerve-racking.

‘I was quite stressed about it in advance,’ he told the Radio Times.

‘In times of stress, I find I’m quite good at not thinking about it. While a certain type of person would reduce their stress levels by preparing for the challenge ahead, I was better at living in denial that I had agreed to do it at all.’

The Great British Bake Off Christmas Special is available to stream on Channel 4.
