Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift React After What May Be His Final Chiefs Home Game

Travis Kelce may have played his final game ever at Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, December 25, and NFL cameras caught the initial postgame reactions of both the future Hall of Fame tight end and his fiancée, music star Taylor Swift.

The league shared a video just under one minute long of Kelce smiling and cordially greeting members of the Denver Broncos, arguably his team’s most hated rival, after what well could be his last ever matchup against them.

Kelce’s demeanor following the game is at least a little surprising given how glum and forlorn he appeared after a couple of the Chiefs’ most recent defeats.

He opted not to speak to media members after a loss against the Houston Texans in Week 14, during which he made a critical error late that sealed the outcome. Kelce again went radio silent — and television and internet silent, as it were — after a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15, which closed the book on Kansas City’s playoff chances and ended in a catastrophic knee injury to quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Swift, to whom the camera panned in a private box for a few brief moments, didn’t show a great deal of emotion. The broadcast caught her looking down at the field for a second or two, then turning back to the several people who surrounded her in the exclusive area of the stadium.

Kansas City lost the game to Denver by a score of 20-13, dropping its fifth contest in a row and seventh in the last eight outings. Kelce finished the night with five catches for 36 yards.

Kelce is 36 years old and nearing the end of his 13th professional season. Reporters have been hammering the now 11-time Pro Bowl tight end about his future plans, though media members took a slightly softer approach to the inevitable inquiry after the game on Christmas.

One reporter broached the topic by asking Kelce if there was any extra emotion to the day, implying that if Kelce retires, the loss to Denver Thursday will be the last time he ever plays in front of the home Kansas City crowd.

“Yeah, it’s a Christmas game baby. It’s a whole lot of emotion,” Kelce responded. “Have everybody in the world watching you.”

He also mentioned the young players who got their first taste of professional football on a global stage due to the many injury concerns that left several of the Chiefs’ regular contributors sidelined for the holiday showdown.

Kelce then addressed his potential retirement, a discussion that will get more traction once Kansas City’s season officially ends following a game against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18.

“Honestly, I’ve been just focused on trying to win football games man,” Kelce said. “I’ll let that be a decision I make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization when the time comes.”

Kansas City is entering a retooling year in 2026, in which the team could prove quite competitive but will also likely be characterized by meaningful roster turnover and uncertainty early on as to when Mahomes will return.

Meanwhile, Kelce is in the final year of his contract, which will officially expire next March when the new NFL year begins.
