Since the Las Vegas Raiders shut down Maxx Crosby for the rest of the 2025 NFL season before the Week 17 loss to the New York Giants, the star pass rusher has been in the trade rumor mill.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox put together a list of five potential teams that could trade for Crosby. These pieces and speculation have run rampant over the last few days, considering that the Raiders star didn’t take the team’s decision too well.
Nonetheless, despite speculation and rumors, former Raiders CEO Amy Trask doesn’t believe the Silver and Black will trade Crosby this offseason.
“I love you [Raiders] fans, I always will, so I share this with the hope it may alleviate some concern: I believe it to be unlikely that [Crosby] will seek to leave the team, given his business relationships with [Raiders minority owner Tom Brady] and [Jim Gray] that extend beyond the field,” Trask wrote on X on December 29.
Moreover, on December 29, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll told reporters in his press conference that Crosby is back in the building.
“We’re doing great,” Carroll said (h/t Pro Football Talk). “We’re eye-to-eye on what’s going on.”
Maxx Crosby Wanted to Play the Raiders’ Final Two Games
The Raiders are in pole position to secure the No. 1 draft pick after their loss to the Giants on December 28. Furthermore, on that same day, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer shared why Crosby was so angry that he can’t play in these final two games as Las Vegas look to finish dead last.
“I’ve been on the phone with Maxx a bunch over the last couple of days and he’s not happy,” Glazer said on “FOX NFL Sunday.” “He was like, ‘Jay, I play football. This is what I do. I’ve had a knee injury since Week 3 that I’ve played with the entire time. They told me they were shutting me down, I was like, no, absolutely not. I play football. There’s no shutting it down for me. I want to be out there. I want to be out there with my teammates.‘ It just wasn’t acceptable to Maxx.”
Raiders’ Maxx Crosby Had No Interest in Tank Talk
With Geno Smith failing to provide a long-term solution, Indiana Hoosiers QB Fernando Mendoza could give the Raiders a fresh start and make the team more appealing to a young, offense-focused coach if they decide to part ways with Carroll. That said, before the game against the Giants, Crosby had little concern for draft implications and was focusing on competing.
“I don’t give a sh– about the pick,” Crosby told reporters on December 23. “To be honest, I don’t play for that. That’s not my job. My job is to be the best defensive end in the world, and that’s what I focus on every day: Being a great leader, being an influence, and being that guy on a consistent basis for my team.
“That’s their job. That’s the front office; the coaches do that. But that’s got nothing to do with me. I’ve learned that lesson in the past. You can’t control everything. And that’s not my job description. My job is to be the best in the world at what I do, and that’s wrecking the game.”
