After more than a week of speculation, WWE confirmed last Monday on RAW that Dominik Mysterio suffered a shoulder injury. While the company didn’t share details about his recovery timeline, a recent report revealed his potential return date.
On a new episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Mysterio should be cleared to go in three to four weeks. The reigning Intercontinental Champion didn’t suffer a serious injury to his right shoulder.
One possible date for his return is at the 2026 Royal Rumble on January 31 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“What I was told today is that they’re looking at three to four weeks, so it’s not a long-term thing. He should be back for the Rumble. The timeline is fluid, but three to four weeks is the number he got from the doctors,” Meltzer said, via Sports Illustrated.
Fightful added that Mysterio avoided a major surgery that would have kept him out for longer. The report also pointed to the week of the Royal Rumble as the Judgment Day member’s potential return timeline.
What Happened to Dominik Mysterio?
At Guerra de Titanes on December 20, Dominik Mysterio teamed up with El Grande Americano to take on Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix in a tag team main event match. Fenix was supposed to team up with Penta, marking the reunion of the Lucha Bros, but the RAW star was dealing with a shoulder issue.
Midway through the match, The Master of the 619 countered his son’s suplex attempt into a DDT. However, “Dirty” Dom landed on his right shoulder awkwardly, favoring it for the rest of the match. He could barely use his right arm, but he was still able to finish the match.
El Grande Americano tried to use his patented metal plate, but Penta ran to the ring and took it away from him. Fenix laid him out with a kick to the side of the head, while Penta put on the plate inside his mask and headbutted Dominik.
It allowed the WWE Hall of Famer to kick his son to hit the 619 and the splash for the win. After the match, Dominik abandoned El Grande, who shook hands with the legendary luchador to end the show.
Jacob Fatu, Chad Gable Close to Returning as Well
In addition to Dominik Mysterio, two more WWE stars are seemingly tipped to return in early 2026. BodySlam+ on Patreon reported that Jacob Fatu is expected to make his first appearance on WWE television since mid-October in the early stages of the new year.
WWE is also hoping that The Samoan Werewolf will have a full-blown breakout year. He was written off on the October 17 edition of SmackDown so that he could undergo a dental procedure.
Chad Gable, on the other hand, has been out since May after suffering a serious shoulder injury. Gable underwent surgery and should be set to return as early as the first episode of RAW in 2026, as reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
In a backstage segment last Monday on RAW, Gable’s American Made stable can be seen in the background during the verbal altercation between Los Americanos and the trio of AJ Styles, Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans.
