Games based on John Wick and Saw will be revealed soon, and it sounds like the former will be a big AAA production.
John Wick is one of the biggest action franchises in the world, but there have been surprisingly few games based on the film series starring Keanu Reeves.
Aside from the excellent turn-based strategy title John Wick Hex, the only other notable game adaptation is virtual reality title John Wick Chronicles. Beyond that, the character has mostly made crossover appearances in Fortnite, Payday 2, and Call Of Duty.
In 2022, Lionsgate Studio’s CEO Jon Feltheimer teased they had been ‘fielding proposals’ for a ‘big AAA game’ based on John Wick. While they didn’t give any further information, some new comments from a fellow Lionsgate executive suggest an announcement could be imminent.
As highlighted by Tech4Gamers, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chairman, Adam Fogelson, referred to ‘AAA game opportunities’ which are currently in the works during its Q2 2026 earnings call.
At the 27-minute mark of the Q&A, held in November, Fogelson said: ‘Our AAA game opportunities and other gaming opportunities around John Wick and Saw, and some others that we’ll be announcing soon.
‘We’re seeing increased interest and increased opportunities, and we remain on schedule. So I think in totality, you are going to see a meaningfully additive financial opportunity coming in the coming years.’
While the ‘soon’ could range from the next few months to next year, it’s a promising sign the John Wick project is still in the pipeline – even if we don’t know who is making it.
Fogelson’s comments also confirm a new Saw game is in development, although it’s unclear if this will similarly be a AAA production. The last Saw game was 2010’s Saw 2: Flesh & Blood for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and since then, Jigsaw has appeared in Dead By Daylight.
There has been a trend of games based on horror franchises copying the same asymmetrical multiplayer formula as Dead By Daylight, such as Evil Dead: The Game, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Killer Klowns From Outer Space, so it’s possible this Saw title could be in the same vein.
It’s unclear when any of these projects could be revealed, or what other games Lionsgate may have green-lit. The film studio’s other IP includes The Hunger Games, Now You See Me, Blair Witch, and Twilight.
