Oscar-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones and his family have released a brief statement following the tragic death of his daughter, Victoria Jones, who was found deceased early on New Year’s Day at the Fairmont San Francisco hotel.

In a statement given to TMZ on Friday, Jan. 2, the family said, “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”

Victoria Jones, 34, was discovered unresponsive in the hotel early on Jan. 1, shortly after a medical emergency was reported to authorities just before 3 a.m. local time. 

Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, and the San Francisco Police Department and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Law enforcement has said foul play is not suspected, though officials have not publicly confirmed an official cause of death.

Victoria, the daughter of Jones and his second wife Kimberlea Cloughley, had appeared occasionally on camera earlier in life.

The family statement arrives amid reports that the 911 call was classified as a medical emergency concerning a possible overdose, with dispatch audio obtained by media outlets referencing a “color change”, a term used in medical communication when a person exhibits signs such as low oxygen levels.

Authorities have yet to officially confirm the cause of death, but this detail suggests emergency responders treated the situation as potentially related to substance-induced medical distress.
