Granger was born in Ohio and won a beauty pageant as a teen in Texas, but it was Hollywood that held her heart. Performing was in her blood, and Variey reports in a 1995 article that she was “born into an Ohio vaudeville family,” although no further details about her background were given.

Granger was celebrated for her roles in both comedy “two-reel” bits and feature-length films. When her death was announced, the Los Angeles Times penned an obituary for her. They shared how she was dubbed “The Queen of the Short Subject Films.”

Granger had 169 acting credits to her name, TMDB reports. Her first onscreen appearances were minor roles in 1929, and her film debut was in “The Sophomore,” Variety reports. This was also the year she moved to Hollywood to pursue acting.

Granger was included in W.C. Fields’ classic comedy “The Dentist.” She appeared in multiple Hal Roach comedies, worked alongside comedy troupe The Three Stooges, and was cast as Leon Errol’s wife in his long-running series. Some of her memorable credits include “Frisco Jenny,” “Kentucky Kernels,” “Naughty Marietta,” “Diamond Jim,” and “Show Boat.” Other credits are “Shopping with Wifie,” “Under Western Skies,” and “The Abbott and Costello Show.”

Granger’s last credit was in 1974 as herself in “Omnibus – Cuckoo: A Celebration of Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy,” TMDB reports. Besides her career, little is known about Granger’s personal life, but she was survived by two nieces, a brother, and her husband. She was loved by her family and dearly missed. Her career may have also inspired women in comedy, as she was popular in the ‘30s and celebrated for her beauty and comedic skills. She worked with men at the top of their game in the comedy world, and she held her own.
