The IPL 2026 T20 Cricket season soldiers on with the fourth match of the year. The Punjab Kings face Jason Holder and the Gujarat Titans to finish off the month of March.
While the NHL season soldiers on, the IPL, like the Toronto Blue Jays and the rest of the MLB, is just getting warmed up. The fourth match is scheduled for 7:30 PM IST at the New International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh.
Here are three bold predictions for the Punjab Kings vs Gujarat Titans match, the fourth of the IPL season.
Great T20 Cricket Bowling Streak Continues
We are three matches deep into the 2026 IPL season, and all three matches have seen bowlers awarded as Player of the Match. For the fourth match, it makes a lot of sense that one of the bowlers in either squad would earn that honor.
Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Luke Wood, Jason Holder, and Kagiso Rabada are all bowlers or all-rounders who could take the cake in the fourth match of the tournament. Arshdeep and Chahal are both heavyweights in the Purple Cap race year after year.
For Arshdeep, he’s coming off a great T20 World Cup campaign. His nine wickets scalped were among the highest in the tournament. He will look to keep building, as he was one of the top wicket-takers in the IPL 2025. That year he collected 21 wickets.
Holder is another name to watch out for. The Titans acquired Holder in the 2026 auction for INR 7 Crore. The last time that he bowled in the IPL was in 2023. That year, he played in eight matches and collected a modest 4 wickets. His best figures was 2/29.
During the 2026 T20 World Cup, he was one of the best bowlers for the West Indies. In seven matches, he and Gudakesh Motie recorded 10 wickets each, the most on the team. Holder’s best figures in the tournament was 4/27.
First IPL 2026 Ton Gets Knocked
T20 cricket fans have seen some memorable knocks so far this IPL tournament, but they have yet to see someone knock a ton. Heavy predicts that this unfortunate streak ends tonight.
The most likely culprit to eliminate this barrier is Sai Sudharsan. Sai took home the Orange Cap last year, with 759 runs scored and a high score of 108. He only knocked one century while also hitting six 50s. No batter hit more than one century last season.
If anyone is going to hit a ton in this matchup, it’s going to be him.
On the other hand, the next most likely option to knock a ton would be Shubman Gill. He is part of the opening partnership that the Titans typically roll out, and he is looking to capitalize on his great 2025 campaign.
Whoever Takes the Most Wickets in the Powerplay Will Win
There is one curious pattern that has emerged early in the season. That is, whichever team collects the most wickets during their opponent’s powerplay has won the match.
When RCB faced SRH, RCB recorded three wickets to SRH’s one. During the second match, KKR didn’t record any wickets when fielding, while the Mumbai Indians scalped one. Finally, during CSK’s powerplay, RR was able to record four. CSK did not collect a wicket until over 6.2.
Honestly, this trend makes a lot of sense. When a team can collect wickets during the powerplay, it helps in multiple ways.
For starters, you get outs on batters who knock runs for breakfast. Secondly, because the top of the order typically features the best batters, its more difficult to get those wickets. So, when you get them, it gives the bowlers a jolt of confidence that carries on for the rest of the match.
Whoever wins the battle of the wickets during the powerplay will win the match.
