West Side man gunned down in West Pullman

Nearly 90 shell casings were recovered from the scene where a man was fatally shot Monday morning in West Pullman on the Far South Side.

Jajauan Thigpen, 26, was in the street in the 800 block of West 122nd Street about 11:55 a.m. when he was shot multiple times in the body, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Thigpen, of the city’s Garfield Park neighborhood, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:04 p.m., officials said.

About 86 shell casings were recovered from the scene, a police source said.

Area 2 detectives were investigating.
