As the NFL offseason rolls along, the New York Giants find themselves wrapped up in one of the league’s biggest ongoing storylines. While many have clamored for the organization to reunite with Odell Beckham Jr., the potential move has been met with some backlash.
Over the past week and a half, there has been endless chatter of Beckham making his way back to New York. With the rumor mill still swirling, Adam Schein of the New York Post weighed in with his thoughts. During the March 31st installment of his ‘Schein Time’ show, he was openly against the idea of the veteran wideout suiting up for the Giants.
“Odell coming back to the Giants is one of the dumbest concepts I’ve ever heard,” Schein said. “Under no circumstance can Odell Beckham Jr. be a Giants ever again…Odell Beckham Jr. is a thing of the past.”
Beckham Jr. missed all of last season, but has made it clear that he wants to be back on an NFL roster in 2026. Given his history with the franchise and their need for depth at the wide receiver position, the Giants have consistently been tossed around as the top landing spot for him.
Adam Schein Blasts Odell Beckham Jr.’s Iconic Giants Highlight
Though his exit from New York was messy, Beckham was one of the league’s top wideouts during his time with the Giants. He burst on the scene in a major way, creating one of the NFL’s most iconic highlights as a rookie.
Arguably the most notable play of Beckham’s career, he pulled off a jaw-dropping one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys. Some feel this is among the top grabs in league history, but Schein doesn’t see it that way.
While on ‘Mad Dog Sports Radio,’ Schein continued to sound off on his disapproval of Beckham coming back to New York. He even took a shot at his famous catch, dubbing it among the most overrated moments in sports history.
“The Odell catch is one of the most overrated play in the history of the NFL,” Schein said. “It was in a loss by the way. There were 10 catches this year in the NFL that were better than Odell Beckham Jr.”
Odell Beckham Jr. Meets With John Harbaugh Amid Giants Buzz
Aside from being drafted by the franchise back in 2014, Beckham has other ties to the Giants. One of them being new head coach, John Harbaugh. The two spent a brief time together in Baltimore, and that relationship could play a factor in him reuniting with New York.
On March 31st, NFL insider Jordan Raanan reported on a recent meeting between Beckham and Harbaugh. The free-agent receiver made his case to the head coach and other high-ranking officials, but nothing is lined up as of yet regarding a contract.
“Odell Beckham Jr. came to the Arizona Biltmore during the NFL’s annual meetings and met with New York Giants coach John Harbaugh on Monday about potentially joining the team, sources told ESPN,” Raanan wrote. “Beckham also stated his case to team brass. Multiple sources told ESPN no deal is imminent.”
As it pertains to his NFL comeback, it looks as though Beckham strongly desires a second stint with the Giants.
