Tiger Woods announced his plans to seek treatment after his rollover crash and subsequent arrest for DUI in Florida on Friday, March 27.

The golf legend plans to travel internationally for his treatment in an effort to maintain privacy, according to TMZ.

Tiger Woods Will Receive Treatment Abroad

TMZ reported on Wednesday, April 1, that Woods’ attorney, Douglas Duncan, filed a request in court stating that his client was hoping to travel abroad to “begin comprehensive inpatient treatment.”

“Based upon the Defendant’s treating physician, the out of country treatment facility recommendation is based upon the Defendant’s complex clinical presentation and the urgent need for a level of care that cannot safely or effectively be done within the United States, as his privacy has been repeatedly compromised,” the filing read, per TMZ.

According to the outlet, Woods’ lawyer claimed that lack of privacy could cause “setbacks and an inability to fully engage in treatment.”

A judge signed off on the athlete’s request, the outlet previously revealed.

While it’s unclear exactly where Woods will travel to begin his treatment, the news comes just days after the five-time Masters tournament winner crashed his Land Rover near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida.

Woods was arrested after refusing to undergo a urinalysis test.

“The investigation started and initially, right off the top, it did appear that the driver of the Land Rover might be impaired,” the local sheriff said in a press conference on Friday. “Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment. They did several tests on him. Of course, he did explain his injuries and the surgeries that he had. We did take that into account.”

He explained that the golfer was not under the influence of alcohol, but, after refusing further tests, Woods was charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Tiger Woods Breaks His Silence After DUI Arrest

Woods spoke out for the first time following his arrest in a statement shared via X the evening of Tuesday, March 31.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation in which I find myself today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” he wrote. “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones, and myself at this time.”
