Jane Fallon is offering a hopeful update after undergoing surgery following her recent breast cancer diagnosis.
The writer, who has been in a long-term relationship with Ricky Gervais for over four decades, revealed last month that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram.
Now, just ten days after her procedure, Fallon is sharing some reassuring news with fans.
Fallon Released an Encouraging Video
In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, April 3, Fallon explained that her follow-up appointment brought encouraging results.
âJust a little update, all is good, yesterday I had my follow-up and they have basically got it all,â she said, signaling that surgeons were largely successful in removing the tumor.
However, she also clarified that an additional procedure will be needed to ensure complete removal.
âWhat they havenât got is a clear margin around the edge of what they have taken so I am going to have to have another op,â Fallon explained. âIt will be just to make sure they get everything, which is a bit of a pain, but it isnât a worry â they just need to make sure they have a clear margin, so will be the exact same operation as last time.â
Despite the need for a second surgery, Fallon maintained a positive outlook, noting that her recovery so far has been smoother than expected.
âBut I do know now that the recovery is so much easier than I thought it was going to be, this is me ten days later,â she shared.
She Has to Have Another Operation
She added, âItâs a pain but not a worry at all [having a second op]. So itâs good and hopefully next week I will hear after Easter to get it out of the way, and then will have to wait for that to be tested and see where we are.â
Fallon also brought some lightheartedness to her update, joking about easing back into activity. âThe surgeon said I can lift some weights so Iâm starting with this one,â she said, referring to her cat.
In her caption, Fallon emphasized how fortunate she feels that her cancer was detected early, urging others to prioritize screenings.
She wrote that she is âluckyâ her diagnosis came from a routine mammogram with âabsolutely no symptoms,â and highlighted how conversations with others have reinforced âhow important screening and early diagnosis really is.â
She also opened up about potential next steps in her treatment, including the possibility of taking Tamoxifen, and asked followers to share their experiences with the medication.
Through honesty and optimism, Fallonâs update serves as both a personal milestone and a broader reminder of the importance of early detectionâsomething she credits for making all the difference in her journey so far.
