The Pirates are playing their first home game of the season, and Konnor Griffin is also making his MLB debut at 19.

Griffin was the ninth pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
At 19, he was the top prospect in all of baseball.
The MLB wrote before the game: “Baseball’s No. 1 prospect has arrived 😤 Konnor Griffin is playing shortstop and hitting 7th in his Major League debut for the Pirates 🏴☠️”

Griffin is coming off a strong minor league season where he batted .333 with 21 home runs, 94 RBI’s, 65 stolen bases and 117 runs.
In addition to superstar pitcher Paul Skenes, he has given the Pirates’ fanbase a lot of energy.
ESPN’s Buster Olney wrote (on April 2): “Konnor Griffin’s deal with the Pirates: nine years, $140 million. They’re still working on finalizing.”

Looking At The Pirates
The Pirates came into the day with a 3-3 record in their first six games.
Following their series with the Orioles, they will remain at home to host the San Diego Padres (on April 6).
