David and Victoria Beckham’s reunion hopes with Brooklyn ‘dashed before World Cup’

David and Victoria Beckham reportedly had a deadline in mind for reconciling with estranged son Brooklyn. Alas, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be met.

It’s believed that Posh and Becks have had no contact with their eldest for a year now.

Brooklyn, 27, remains in the States with wife Nicola Peltz, 31, having defiantly declared in January that he ‘does not want’ to patch things up, seemingly cutting off his siblings in the process, too.

You’ll remember, of course, his scathing social media takedown when the budding chef posted a lengthy statement on his Instagram Story, accusing his mum and dad of ‘controlling’ him from a young age and trying to interfere in his marriage.

Neither David, 50, nor Victoria, 52, publicly responded at the time, but they’ve since continued showing love to their son, whether it be via unexpected birthday tributes or, most recently, VB’s interview about wanting to ‘protect’ their kids.

And according to a source, despite Brooklyn showing no signs of wanting to mend their relationship, they’re not giving up.

As reported by Page Six, following a string of public engagements from David and Victoria, ‘everything’s going really well’ for the Beckhams, but still, ‘Brooklyn’s not there’.

The insider added that the family ‘will never give up hope’ of reuniting with their boy, and they’re ‘saddened’ that the feud has gone on for this long.

With the World Cup set to start on June 11, it’s believed that David and Victoria were optimistic that things could return to how they once were before then, since they’ll be spending all their time in the US for the tournament.

But their hopes are fading, with the source adding: ‘Everything is frozen in place.’

It’s believed that the only relatives Brooklyn is now still in touch with are his grandparents – David’s mum, Sandra, and Victoria’s parents, Jackie and Tony.

Even that is thought to be irregular, though, and only via text.

And while Brooklyn and Nicola have continued fighting off claims that she is the one calling the shots and, indeed, she ‘doesn’t think his family is good for him’, Brooklyn is still standing firm.

‘It’s not just Nicola,’ the source clarified. ‘Brooklyn did edit [the statement]; he owned it fully. They’re not going to make up any time soon.

‘There were points last year when an apology [from David and Victoria] would have worked, but not now.’

The latest comes after Victoria was asked about the family rift by the Wall Street Journal.

While she didn’t mention Brooklyn by name, the former Spice Girl said: ‘I think that we’ve always – we love our children so much. We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.’

‘And, you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And, you know, that’s all I really want to say about it,’ she added.

Probed further on whether she felt guilty about her children being thrust into the limelight from a young age, she replied: ‘I wouldn’t say it comes with guilt; I’d say that there was a lot of adjusting from my mum and dad when all of a sudden there were paparazzi outside their house.

‘We’ve really taken our families on this ride with us.’

Victoria also spoke about her turbulent year during her Time100 panel on Wednesday, stating that she ‘learned a long time ago to really not listen to the noise’.

‘Someone’s always going to have something to say … I don’t want to know. That’s how I handle it, I suppose,’ said the designer.

Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, are permanent features on their parents’ social media feeds and often pose on red carpets and at events with them.

Brooklyn grew up doing the same, then writing earlier this year that ‘for [his] entire life, [his] parents have controlled narratives in the press about [their] family’.

‘The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,’ he further vented, claiming David and Victoria prioritise appearances and ‘Brand Beckham’ over everything.

Over the past year, they have maintained their famous united front, even after Brooklyn’s shocking swipes, welcoming their sons’ girlfriends, Kim Turnbull and Jackie Apostel, into the fold, too.

And while it’s claimed that, as ‘everyone is getting on with their lives’ and things ‘calm’ down, David and Victoria ‘will be there to talk’ if and when Brooklyn wants them, we probably shouldn’t expect any changes in the coming weeks.

David, who owns Inter Miami FC, will have significant involvement in the World Cup when it kicks off, particularly in greeting friend Prince William when the royals travel out in summer.

Numerous sightings with their four other kids are surely inevitable, but Los Angeles-based Brooklyn will likely be keeping his distance.
