A fan of Spice Girls star Melanie C has been surprised to spot a basic – and rather mortifying – spelling mistake on her new album cover.
The chart-topper released her latest solo studio album on Friday, Sweat, but unfortunately her name isn’t spelled correctly on the spine of the vinyl release.
For while it’s Melanie C on the front cover next to an image of the singer in a red and blue leotard, it’s ‘Melanine C’ along the side.
Brad Bellman shared this discovery with his followers on TikTok on Monday, quipping: ‘So I think someone’s getting fired.’
He also revealed that it was a friend who had alerted him to the issue initially, asking him: “Did you get the Melanine version?”
Showing the error on camera, Melbourne-based Brad added: ‘Who the f**k is Melanine? This is actually going to drive me insane.’

It’s currently not known how many units the spelling blunder affects, but other fans were saying they had spotted the same error.
‘It’s on all 5 of my vinyl variants 🤣,’ commented Andrew Isaac, a fan in the UK, while Scott Love shared: ‘lol I just checked mine and I also have “Melanine C”.’
David Hayes also shared a photo of the spine of what he said was the Blood Records exclusive variant, also featuring the same spelling mistake.
‘Wait a minute, I’m pretty sure Sweat is her ninth studio album right, so maybe it’s intentional,’ suggested Jimmy McG, something other fans were laughingly suggesting.
‘It’s a mistake. She just said on the live stream of Banquet Records and she’s going to try to normalise it as some people are asking her to sign the records “To Melanine”,’ wrote Desiré Pereda.
While there were mutters about quality control, others were also pointing out a silver lining, with Tilly Capulet posting: ‘This technically makes it more valuable.’
‘Hold on to it… it will be expensive in the future,’ echoed Luke Chambers, although if it’s a common fault, it won’t affect the value of the record.
Melanie C, 52, is currently touring her new album – her first since 2020’s self-titled effort – around the UK.
On Saturday night the former Sporty Spice thrilled fans when her ‘northern sister’ Mel B, a.k.a. Scary Space, joined her onstage in Leeds for an impromptu duet of their 1997 number one hit Spice Up Your Life.
They were both part of the Spice Girls’ line-up from 1994 alongside Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, and Victoria Beckham.
Alongside an intense wave of nostalgia, fans enjoying the video footage of the moment afterwards couldn’t get over how ageless they both looked, making it ‘just like the old days’.
‘What freaking year are we in? Y’all don’t age 😭’ posted Cal in the top comment, with Diedre agreeing and admitting she had initially been ‘legitmately confused’ while others suggested it could pass for 1996.
After selling over 39 million albums with the Spice Girls, Melanie has gone on to enjoy solo success, claiming number ones with singles Never Be the Same Again and I Turn to You, as well as three Top 10 albums.
