Famous Redhead Kathy Griffin Wows With Platinum Blonde Transformation to Support Selma Blair

Kathy Griffin is turning heads with a dramatic new look.

The comedian, long known for her signature bright red hair, debuted a platinum blonde transformation while stepping out to support close friend Selma Blair at a meaningful event over the weekend.

Griffin and Blair Wowed at the Event

Griffin showed off the eye-catching hairstyle in an Instagram post shared on Saturday, May 9, posing alongside Blair while attending a fundraiser focused on brain injury science and research.

“I just had to be a blonde to show up for my blonde bombshell friend @selmablair, who is fighting her MS battle with glamour and grace,” Griffin wrote in the caption. “She gave a beautiful speech at an event benefiting more funding for science and research regarding brain injuries.”

Blair later reshared the image to her Instagram Stories and returned the love with a sweet message for Griffin.

“Thank you for showing up as your hottest blonde vintage Dior wearing self today,” Blair wrote.

The outing marked another public appearance for Blair, who has remained candid about her health journey after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2018.

Blair Is Acting Again

The actress has openly documented both the physical and emotional toll of living with the chronic autoimmune disease, while also celebrating major victories along the way.

After revealing in 2021 that her MS had gone into remission, Blair has slowly returned to work and recently resumed acting.

“It surpassed my expectations of what I can do as a person. I think I thought I was just going to keep staying in bed and hoping,” she told PEOPLE.

Blair recently wrapped a guest-starring role on the FOX detective drama “Murder in a Small Town,” something she says once felt impossible.

“Every day I do really work hard to stay awake, it seems sometimes. I’m not trying to say, ‘Oh gosh, I’m all better and look, I’m working now,’ “ she explained. “It’s still tricky sometimes, but I’m absolutely capable of working, and I’m so happy to be back. I’m doing well.”

Griffin Changed Her Hair in March

As for Griffin’s bold beauty change, eagle-eyed fans may remember that this isn’t actually the first time she teased the look.

Back in March, Griffin first revealed she had dyed her hair blonde, though many followers remained skeptical after she was later spotted sporting her familiar red locks.

At the time, some fans questioned whether the transformation was real at all.

Griffin addressed the speculation directly in a video explaining the makeover.

“I did it. I actually dyed my hair this color,” she stated. “This is my hair. I’ve been growing it long for a really long time, and I know it’s cheesy, and I’m too old, but I’ve always wanted to try this hair color.”

The comic admitted the icy blonde shade may not be permanent.

“I’m only going to try it, like, maybe I’ll do six months,” Griffin admitted, noting that the transformation process itself was no small feat.

Still, she appears to be enjoying the change.

“It’s really fun. I like it. If you don’t like it, I promise, it’s just a phase. I’m not making a statement about blondes having more fun or any of that. I just have liked the look forever.”

She even confessed that seeing Kim Kardashian go blonde years ago helped inspire her to finally take the plunge.

For now, Griffin’s dramatic makeover is getting plenty of attention — and fans seem just as wowed as Blair.
